Skilling Summoning Magic -- Easier way to do it?

I tried asking this in the randomer question thread with no response, but mods feel free to delete this thread if it seems out of place. Anyway, I have been leveling my smn in Korroloka astral flow burns. Now I'm nearly 75 and have severely gimp summoning skill. I would like for my summoner to be useful in certain situations and understand that summoning skill is much more important than it once was.

My question however is, are there certain things I can do to raise skill more quickly than just sitting outside town summoning/releasing? Even if there was a way to write a script to do this so I could at least chat with ls/tab out and dabble around online, I would appreciate very much to know how to go about doing so. I'm not looking to find some kind of repeating script, but at least one that I could exec every 5 mins or so would be worlds better than every 8 or so seconds.

The easiest way is ur windower macros with the right delays. Just add up the time to be about 5mins, then execute it again

Just do the page1 FoV in sky, 8 flamingoes and 3 sprinklers. Garuda does pretty well against flamingos though you might have to resummon, Titan absolutely destroys pots and you probably won't even need to resummon unless you get an unlucky spell like AeroIV or something

I skilled most of mine back in the old days before they patched it, that took forever but post-patch I finished it off by going to Mount Zhayolm (by Dahaks) zone line, summoning Diabolos and using Camisado/Somnolence on Wamoura Princes till MP runs out, then zone and rinse and repeat, it went pretty fast. Somnolence is Ward even though it does damage so makes for nice skillups.
Post above sounds nicer though, these features weren't around at the time and atleast you actually earn exp/tabs that way heh

Summoning and releasing will skill up at the same rate as Enhancing Magic (ridiculously slow). You'll do way better with offensive blood pacts against level-appropriate monsters. Offensive BPs will skill up at a rate comparable to nukes/enfeebles, although the blood pact timer will slow you down quite a bit.

For the same reason, WHMs often skill up healing by offensively casting cures on undead. NINs skill up ninjitsu with their elemental wheel spells much more effectively than with utsusemi or tonko.

Edit: BTW, to figure out the level-appropriate monsters, start by figuring out what level you would have been at for your current skill. For example, if your summoning skill is 100, you could have achieved that at level 33. Therefore, skill up on mobs that are around level 35-40.

In addition to what I said, cast avatar > BP:ward > release > and repeat in windower macro for a while. Afk a bit and come back to elemental siphon and start the skillup macro again. You can even switch it up with a different avatar and a different ward. If you want, you can stay there the whole time and attack stuff instead, like has been mentioned in the posts above.

Spam low-level Rage Bloodpacts during your normal EXP routine. They're easy on the MP. Magical ones are best because they still deal numerical damage even if your accuracy fails, whereas physical Bloodpacts can miss entirely.

Example:

Summon Garuda.
Command Hastega for your party (be useful!).
Command Aero 2 (be selfish!).
Release Garuda.
Prepare for your next round of Bloodpacts.
Repeat.

Thanks for the replies :D Also, I'm somewhat a script writing noob, short of massive equip swaps. How do you add in a delay for scripts? "Input /wait n" doesn't seem to work.

Seconded. For added speed, do it just outside the Al Zabi Mog house. So Execute 5min Summon, Release, Summon macro (Have it send you a <call> if you want afk and be do other things). When done zone in to mog house, zone out with full Mp. Rinse and repeat.

I did this to cap mine when they made smn magic skill over cap mean something. I did it at the dragon's aery zoneline though, same BPs, just on spiders. It was pretty quick.

You guys had some really good ideas, and I've made use of many. One question about the script running while I'm chatting/tabbed out...how can I make the script stop running early if I need to? Right now it runs for about 8mins (basically until I'm out of mp) but say I get invited to do something and don't want to wait for the script to end.

Make it shorter. It's also not spamming commands fast enough to stop you from accepting any invites within a reasonable time anyway

Up until around level 50 SMN I did the windower macro thing, figured out times to have it auto cycle elementals and rest MP + stand up an restart, and left it going for 8-10 hours while I slept out in the middle of nowhere zone.

At 75, I can say I got the last like 30 levels in 2-3 days purely by using SMN on high level shit aka tier 3 ZNMs and sky/sea junk. The mage mamool ja one was where I got my last like 12 levels and capped over two pops I think. It used to be a nightmare but after the update that let BPs skill it up it honestly isn't that bad.

EDIT: My windower macro basically went like...

/ma [spirit here] <me>
/wait 4
/ja release <me>
/wait 4

over and over between the spirits until out of MP, then switched to HMP gear, rested for however many seconds I timed it out to be to get full MP, then stood up and restarted. I think one cycle of MP + resting was like 5-10 minutes, and I had a macro that did one cycle (if I was there while it was going), one that went for an hour or so (more lazy) and one that went for like 10 hours that I'd have go overnight. But at 75, it's not really practical, I remember doing that for 3-4 nights at 8+ hours a pop and probably only getting 30 or 40 levels. BPing is the way to go if you can.
