I saw wafik and people talking about the heigan dance in another thread. I'm posting this for you guys to use. One of our guildies, Kielbasa, made this during our 40 man Naxx days b/c it was pretty lame getting 40 people to understand where to move. Also the splashes in those days were faster, so the splashes in the diagram move faster than they do in current Naxx.

Of note, If you have a Shaman who knows the zones, have them post 1 totem per zone to help the...slower...members of your group.

I dunno but it helps me a lot if I strafe while doing it, try not to keyboard turn. If you dont feel confident to DPS while running then don't bother. Also, at the 1 & 4 spot you generally have enough time to cast a 1.5 heal before running again.

This is certainly one of those practice makes perfect deals. We've managed heroic safety dance twice. It took forever to get down simply because of the lower end of the learning curve. Once the slower people get it down it really is pretty simple.

phase 2 there's nothing you can do but on phase one there's a very easy way to down heigan fast.

Have the melee stack on the platform corner closest to the door where you enter, on the corner furthest from the wall and have the range stack on the opposite corner near the door where you head to loatheb but closer to the wall.

If you position properly you avoid both the lava waves and the range are out of range to not get affected by the cast time debuff.

If you can get yourselves positioned right you can down heigan without having to do more than one of the phase 2 dances unless you're dps is really low.

the 40man dance moved so fast you couldn't stop moving. if you did you would get splashed. Back in the day a couple of ppl would randomly be teleported to the back of the worm room. I never died to the splash, but if I got teleported, I died.

I strafe when I do this and keep dpsing Heigan (watching threat of course). It's so ez, but like Arv said I def think strafing is better. Zoom camera angle all the way out, watch floor after memorizing that flash diagram. ez pz

The 2nd best guild on my server used the exploit spot on this every week until it got fixed in 3.0.8, they were gunning for server second immortal and got a nasty surprise that week.

"Have to use exploits" vs "Found a spot where everyone but the tank can stand the whole time and down him in like 2 minutes flat" are quite different.

Although I completely agree it'd be an utter joke to go bragging about Immortal when you used the no dance spot.

It'd also be quite hilarious to see the looks on their faces when they tried it after it got fixed.

my guild had so much trouble with this... we used markers, flares and vent to try to get it down... we only ended up failing more... lol

then i found the perfect video that has helped me stay alive on many heigan runs

Heigan For Dummies (3:45)

just skip to 3:45 and its basically explained:

-Use the platform as a marker, turn camera to face heigan and strafe (its nice for insta-cast spells)
-Zone 1 is to the left of the Left corner
-Zone 2 is in between the Left corner and to the left of heigan
-Zone 3 is to the right of heigan and left of the right corner
-Zone 4 is to the right of the right corner

Just dont be too close to heigan, and run to the end of the "zone" since that is roughly where the areas are... you'll notice zone 1 is a bit bigger and zone 2 and 3 are a lot smaller

that video alone let us down heigan for the first time... and net us "The Safety Dance" Achievement on that kill

Kiel's animation has been part of the wowwiki entry for Heigan for years.

And they haven't fixed the exploit spot for tank/spank Heigan yet. Not that it much matters, lolHeigan or something. Be funny if they fixed that and not fix pulling Gluth out to Grobb's room.

You're thinking of the wrong exploit spot.

For a couple months there was a spot you could stand *off* the platform, by the door heading to Loatheb, and not get hit. Then the tank/melee just stand on the platform, and run down to the spot everyone else is standing in during fast phase. You had to be pretty thoroughly retarded to even get hit ever doing it that way.

I never understood why some people had so much trouble with this.

And I remember that exploit. I remember the first time someone suggested it, half the people who went there died anyway because they didn't stand in the right spot. And agree with whoever says that it's pretty awful to have to use exploits for Heigan.
