I wanted to know what would be the good TP and WS sets for RDMs and PLDs with an Excalibur?
I wanted to know what would be the good TP and WS sets for RDMs and PLDs with an Excalibur?
For PLD? I think it's:
Main: Excalibur
Sub: Aegis
Ammo: Lamia Kaman +1
Ranged: -------------
Head: Walahra Turban
Neck: Ancient Torque
Ear1: Brutal Earring
Ear2: Suppanomimi
Body: Homam Corazza
Hands: Dusk Gloves +1 / Homam Manopolas
Ring1: Toreador's Ring
Ring2: Toreador's Ring
Back: Cuchulain's Mantle / Gigant Mantle
Waist: Velocious Belt
Legs: Homam Cosciales
Feet: Homam Gambieras
I'd assume you'd still be using Atonement on PLD, and I am not sure as to what RDM has access to.
That is accurate for the most part. Body would probably do better with Ares. Neck might do better with Fortitude Torque. Hitting for 0, regardless of what weapon you are using, is always a problem. Need more attack.
I would use Cuchulain's over Gigant. Even though I don't have an Excalibur, I would personally want to hit more than I would want a little extra damage on the added effect. Again, not sure on this one, since I don't have an Excalibur.
Capped Sword merits are a must and eat Dorado Sushi. I recommend duo tanking so you can fit 2 BRD's in tank party. Double march, ballad and madrigal and you are golden.
As for RDM, I wouldn't sacrifice certain things...Namely auto refresh pieces like Dalmatica/Morrigans and Duelist's Chapeau. Setup would probably look like this.
Main: Excalibur
Sub: Sentinel's Shield
Ranged: Lamia Kaman +1
Head: Duelist's Chapeau
Neck: Fortitude Torque
Ear1: Brutal Earring
Ear2: Suppanomimi
Body: Dalmatica
Hands: Dusk Gloves +1
Ring1: Toreador's Ring
Ring2: Toreador's Ring
Back: Cuchulain's Mantle
Waist: Velocious Belt
Legs: Nashira Seraweels
Feet: Dusk Ledelsens +1
I would remove auto-fresh, where do you really need them? I would use Goliard's Saio due its HP/MP/Haste stats. (If ur not tanking)Originally Posted by Belkin

Goliard Body also has the ol' -5 enmity on it.
However, if you aren't tanking HNM, Goliard Body is a pretty good choice. I just overlooked it.
regardless of if you're tanking, dalm over morrigans is pretty silly.. losing acc and hp for mdb
I don't have a Morrigan's Robe so that's why I forgot to mention it. Didn't even realize accuracy was on it lol
A rdm trying to tank with excal would be a horrible waste, you'd be casting 80% of the time and you'd gain negligible hate from melee damage.
As for needing aegis to use excal efficiently, you don't but it is a noticable upgrade and would allow you to be a little less defensive when it comes to casting shadows/feeding tp.
Can also use Terror Shield over Kaiser Shield. 20 hp for the exact same enmity and the only real loss being no beastkiller (OH NO).
I'd disagree. Homam Corazza and Peacock Charm are both better for an Excalibur PLD. Hitting is more important than hitting for damage.
If your accuracy is high enough, swap to Fortitude Torque for the +~7 attack, but leave the Homam Corazza on until you really need MP or something.
As for Shields, if you're going damage and damage alone, Sentinel Shield or Januwiyah +1 are your best bets. If you're doing a hybrid tank/DD set, Terror Shield is your best option.
I'd agree in terms of pure damage for an Excal since there's the added damage procs, though I'm not sure how often those proc myself. I do personally have issues with 0's slowing TP gain using my Atonement spam set though since it's all accuracy and not really any attack...for PLD though if I'm not mistaken, don't the damage procs on Excal not give additional enmity? In comparison to a greater number of Atonements, which do, that may be something to take into consideration.
It's kind of irrelevant because you can cap hate regardless of atonement, but I see your point.
Yeah I never saw the point of Excal being another hate tool, it's a way to contribute a large portion of damage while tanking.
Don't need Atonement to cap hate, any PLD with half a brain and Cure-swaps can cap VE and get a large chunk of CE during the first Sentinel.
for rdm i stick with full haste gear and war sub. With composure and food, your acc will be pretty solid as far as rdm goes. This way, you maximize the amount of swings you get in with excal. With war sub, max haste you can get is 25%(26% in beseiged lol) this is using
W Turban
Goliard Body
Dusk Gloves +1
Dusk Feet +1
Velocious Belt
Nashira Legs
Sentinel Shield
Brutal and suppa for TP obviously, chuchu mantle also. spellcast is your best friend if you plan to be effective while doing this for ls events and such, as you'll need to maximize every gear slot you have to land enfeebles, etc. P.S. dont try and tank if youre excal rdm, just swing and get your procs in and play rdm.
If you have a excalibur chances are you are fighting things like khim and cerberus. granted they arent hard to tank, but the Beast killer effects on the koenig/kaiser shield can save your butt sometimes. And yes i know "if your a good tank you shouldnt rely on this sort of thing", i know this is coming but just saying it can help at the least.
If you're just DD"ing with it, Sentinel Shield (Haste +1%) would be useful. That or Terror Shield (HP+20) or Januwiyah +1 (HP+30) I guess.
Straight up DD:
Excal / Sentinel / Arco / xxx
Turban / Fort Torque / Suppa / Brutal
Homam Corazza / Dusk +1 / Blitz / Tore
Gigant / V.Belt / Homam Cosc. / Homam Gam.
Haste+23% / HP+256 / Regen+1
Tanking/DD Hybrid:
Excal / Aegis / Lamian +1 / xxx
Turban / P.Gorget / Ethereal / Brutal
Ares's Cuirass / Homam Mano. / D.Ring / S.Ring
Valor Cape / V.Belt / Homam Cosc. / Homam Gam.
Haste+20% / HP+181 / Refresh+2
I think this is what others have posted in the past.
