Emmett Till's casket left to waste at Burr Oak

I drove past this cemetery yesterday afternoon, and it is a fucking madhouse. I can't believe that nobody has posted anything about this yet. It's really an amazing story of pure greed and cruelty.

Not a big story? Good point... I guess that cemetery employees dig up bodies and throw them in a pile at the back of the cemetery so they can resell grave plots (and pocket the money) all the time.

If you took the time to read the entire story, you would know that it was only his OLD Casket that was discarded. He was reburied after being legally exhumed for examination in 2005 in a brand spankin' new casket.

It's unfortunate, but it's not ZOMG EPIC NEWZ. They were going to use his OLD CASKET in a memorial to him, but some douche lady pocketed the money raised for it and tossed it out back.

    its not about 1 person.
hundreds(300) were unburied and discarded in the woods, and people then sold the spaces to other people.
OP did pick a misleading new report though

The owners of the home were subsequently charged with "dismemberment of a human body". The investigators were reportedly stepping on and over bones strewn all over the grave yard.

So yeah, much definitely bigger than one person. And the "Old casket" is significant because she was fronted funding money to set up a civil rights memorial in his name. Money which she pocketed for herself.

Emmett Till's murder was a big reason the Civil Rights movement started, I'm sure not alot of people even know his story or who he was. They should explain that when reporting about it, because most people wont even pay attention to this news. The old Casket was very important piece of the story too.

The article looks like a bunch of notes that were scribbled out on post-it notes and just strung together in no apparent order lol.

People steel brass nameplates off tombstones like mad, that's why most nameplates are just directly chiseled into marble now.
