    Kitten Health Issues?

Sorry to make a separate thread here chaps. But my kitten, Meatball, no longer has ANY of his milk teeth left. I know that cats have a second set of teeth and they lose their teeth. But I check his mouth today when he was biting my hand and it didn't hurt. And sure enough all his teeth were gone. My concern is mainly is this natural for them to lose all of their teeth so quickly? Or is this a sign of a potential issue? I gave him some wet food today to make sure he's eating but I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I had cats before but never one this young. So I've never gone through this. Insight? Anyone? If anyone would happen to see Circe logged on could you please direct her to this thread. zoobernut thinks that she is a veterinarian. Thanks for the help guys.

    How old is the kitten?

Also do you see any of the adult teeth coming in already? You should be able to see or at least feel the adult teeth coming in by the time the baby teeth fall out.

My wife also thinks it might be a vitamin deficiency. What kind of food were you feeding the kitten before all this started?

Hopefully Circe logs in, I think she is a veterinary assistant. Also she is Bigroutbagels wife.

No but seriously, wasn't there some chick who posted on here in the other cat thread, who was a vet? I think it's the name you mentioned but not sure.

It was Circe she is a vet tech not a vet but she is a good source of information.

Edit: Bigrougabagel is her husband so you can try pming him too.

    Hello! I am zoobernut's wifey...
Anyhoo the kitten should loose and replace the incisors, then the premolars, and finally the canines, finishing by 6 months. How old is Mr. Kitty? The fact that he lost the baby teeth entirely makes me think of a nutritional deficiency...not to worry if it is corrected he should just be a little slow and then catch up to be a healthy cat. I would suggest giving Nutri-cal supplement and wet kitten food until you see the front teeth beginning to erupt. Usually you should be able to see the skin stretching and a hint of white a day or two after he looses the baby teeth, so hopefully this won't last long!

Thanks Mrs. zoobernut. I've been giving him kitten chow with wet food occasionally as a treat. I'm assuming nutri cal is cat food and not a vitamin? His gums look white and it feels like there are little ridges there. I'm probably just worrying too much. As to his name it was either going to be Meatball or Lunchbox.

I think she said last night that the nutrical is a vitamin supplement that comes in a toothpaste toooob. And she also said as long as he is still gumming his dry food then that is ok but if he stops eating it then the wet food is a good idea.

Need pictures of Meatball, especially since he's a Penguins fan.

    Right? He better be, Brill.

Bring it to a vet, office visits at my vet are only $35. Better to be safe than sorry now than have serious issues down the road resulting from an incorrect e-diagnosis (speaking from experience here).

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

just as an off thought, brillcs where did you get the kitten from? And have you taken it to the vet outside of shots. Usually a good idea with ANY pet gotten outside of a vet clinic, is to take it in for a check up (note sometimes if you get shots that doesn't mean you paid to have them make sure the cat is healthy). There are regular test they will give to a kitten to make sure it has no previous diseases and isn't malnutrition.

Also needs to be de-wormed to avoid health deficiencies.

He's been de-wormed and has received his first and second round of shots. He's a feral kitten so we wanted to make sure he was totally healthy before we introduced him to our other two cats.
