Which one is better bang for my buck. I love bass and I have a very good ear. Gonna be used for my computer of course. Looking for now more than 100 bucks for a system

Honestly, 5.1 is knida pointless for computers. You'd be better off just getting some rocking 2.1 speakers. I recommend Klipsch.

Not to put a damper on your sale. But I really can't stand bose. I hate how they have become popular among laymen because they are really awful speakers. They charge way too much and you get way too little.

I am looking for some cheaper speakers, since I rarely use them. I checked these out, they don't work fyi (need repair).

Any other speakers recomended for <100$ 2.1 channels? I really have no use for speakers, but occasionaly they come in handy. I just about always use my headset.

Depends, "Bose" is pretty synonymous with Lifestyle/Acoustimass/whatever tiny speakers + sub, but they do make larger speakers that aren't terrible. I agree with bang for the buck perhaps, but my 701s (that I've had for about 14 years now) are decent enough...cube systems, yeah, can do -way- better for the money.

As for OP stuff, eh, I've heard decent things about Klipsch stuff, but I generally use an amp/real speakers instead of "computer" speakers - though even the cheap one I use is $90-100 for the amp alone, so probably a bit out of budget.

If you're even remotely considering Bose, for any variety of sound product that isn't their patented stuff like wave radio, then look at JBL and Klipsch. I guarantee is it every bit as sharp for 30-50% less cost.

Personally, I wouldn't consider Bose again, but neither would I consider JBL, or probably Klipsch either, for home speakers. Most Klispch I've heard are too bright/harsh for my tastes.

I'd rather take a bright sounding speaker and tweak it more to my liking by EQ than something that doesn't have the energy in the first place...especially when many consumer brands tend to focus on MORE BASS GWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I would recommend for your computer if you "have a good ear" to skip computer speakers and set yourself up with a really nice stereo. That way it can work for your computer and general listening as well.

I would recommend Paradigm as the best bang for your buck way over Klipsch and JBL. This is for home audio. Also Anthony Gallo makes some amazing speakers and they are small too.

B&W makes ok speakers though they tend to be a little bright for my taste and they are also over priced. If you really want the base Sunfire makes some amazing subs though they also have a tendency to be a little pricey.

Never looked back! Really good sound from these little bad boys. The bass is fantastic, can go very deep and loud without breaking up (much further than you'd go at normal listening levels!) and the mids & highs are really sweet. I couldn't ask anymore from £50 speakers.

I've had mine for a couple years now, nothing has gone wrong with them (okay, there's a little bit of grit in the bass knob that makes the movement not completely fluid but that's an environmental fault, not a fault with the technology )

Completely agree. Axioms are good too.

When I was in school, I used an old-ass Kenwood 2 channel receiver with a pair of Axiom monitors for my PC setup, and it was great.

I just use headphones now, but my HTPC runs through a decent enough Yamaha 7.1 receiver into a 5 channel Paradigm surround sound system (no standalone sub at the moment, just using the woofers integrated into the main stacks for my front left/right channels). My old man has a 7.1 setup in the living room that's all Paradigm Reference equip he got for decent prices on EBay and such, and it is spec-freakin'-tacular.

And I'll pile on the "Bose is nasty, wet ass" bandwagon. Never found a speaker or pair of headphones made by them which was acceptable in the slightest.

For PC speakers on a budget, I agree with Mini. Klipsch 2.1s are a great option, especially if you take the time to EQ for particularly important things (e.g. media players). If there's a bit more money in the kitty, I'd look at something like Paradigm monitors/bookshelf speakers driven by a small receiver.

Why are you limiting yourself to "computer speakers"?

Any audio system, even one you build up yourself, will work from an 1/8" output from your sound card. You want real audio? You wont get it from "PC speakers". Use a stereo even, with RCA inputs and use a 1/8" male to RCA male cable into a stereo system of any kind for a real thump. It's about 5 bucks at any electronics place, radioshack has them.

In my studio, I have a 1/8" output from the non-recording/playback comps to an RCA line, into a mixer (but here's where any audio device taking RCA can be substituted) and then out to XLR lines to the powered speakers.



What I'm saying is it not hard or expensive to go beyond "pc speakers". Get yourself a better bang for the buck and get a better setup. If it's important to you, I mean.

Not the same really, I prefer more the silk dome tweeter vs horn (typical for Klipsch) and that sort of thing. However, as you'd find on AVSforum or whatnot, it's a preference, not a universal better/worse thing. Either can produce highs just fine.

No argument there, and the point was mostly to get away from bose anyway. Most consumer brands are solid enough for everyday use

Really if you get a good setup with good speakers, interconnects, processor/preamp, and amp you should not need an equalizer and will more often than not cause harm to the sound by tweaking with an equalizer.

My personal setup right now is Rotel processor/preamp, Tributaries and AudioQuest interconnects/speaker wire, Adcom amps, and Paradigm Studio 20's. I am stuck with stereo at the moment till I can finish out the speakers but I get great sound in stereo.

I just use one of these Amazon.com: AudioSource AMP-100 2-Channel Bridgeable Stereo Power Amplifier: Electronics which works just fine for bookshelf speakers and fits nicely under an LCD.

A class T amp would probably work too, but I have no experience with 'em.
