My Friend has a Chigoe that he uses to kill the Dark Elemental who usually racks up 1000+ Wins on Asura, just randomly to piss the fella off.

    He has:

    Innate:
    Attack Speed Bonus

    Added:
    EnWind
    Auto-Blink
    Auto-Stoneskin
    Evasion Bonus
    Vermin Killer (For other Chigoe)

Enspell Damage really tears through Elementals... That ontop of the Quick attack speed of a Chigoe/

That what he uses and it usually rips through anything

I don't do pankration but I found this info very interesting.

Now, may I ask, is there a mob that is particularly adept at killing chigoes (specifically the one spec'ed out above)?

Elementals with Phalanx and Ice Spikes usually destroy chigoes.
You'd better off using a Wind Ele for En-Silence and En-Petrify immunity, many chigoe users like to use those. On top of that a single Aeroga II is guaranted 50% damage on any chigoe with or without buffs.

Okay that Wind Ele sounds nasty.

How would you kill a Wind Ele that has Phalanx and Ice Spikes on it?

Please don't tell me it involves using a Dark Ele!

Most Elementals can be killed by any monster with a strong magical tp attack, assuming that you enhance their magical defense. Ghosts, pots (have huge magic def already), and gears can all be set up to destroy most Elementals.
Ghosts should be set up as side attackers, with magic att bonus, instant phalanx, int bonus, and whatever else you can get on them. Int bonus is one of the easier ways to reduce magical damage taken, in my experience. With this sort of setup, the ghost with probably sleep/nuke, and hit the elemental with Ectosmash for over 250 damage once stoneskin goes down. If you can manage to get one with AutoRegain, you've got a definite winner.
Pots should be set up to use their mystic light move, again, you're going to want magic attack bonus, etc... to maximize your damage output.
Gears are a little different, you actually have two choices with them. The first is getting it to side attack and use Rail cannon. All forms of Gears use rail cannon, and all of them ignore shadows, if you have a triple gear, it'll strip shadows when it uses it. They also have the move antigravity, I think it is. It also ignores shadows. Small edition here, Gears are ranged attackers, so spikes have no affect on them. I believe that Chariots are the same, but I've had very little luck getting a good chariot pet.

Any of the three can be trained and built properly to take down elementals, and most other monsters as well. They are also very tough versus Undead.

Cool. And I suppose that because these mobs are somewhat specialized, they all have counters, and Pankration is a giant rock-paper-scissors match?

For example if you make a pot that designed to resist the magic attacks, a physical attacker should be able to take it down?

That would be correct. For every possible monster, there is a counter. Magic attackers have a bit of an edge, in general, due to their attacks being so much more potent than most physical attacks, but there is always something to kill everything.

I have close to 8 pets at level 50 at the moment, and each one is good against something specific.
Roc's, or giant birds, can't be petrified or slept. so sleep nukers don't cast spells on them. Also, enpetrify chigoes and other fast attackers are generally useless against them.
Monkeys, if you can get their temperment just right, can hit harder than damn near anything on a side attack. I've seen vicious claw for over 1k.
Wyvre's have ungodly defensive moves, and their two offensive attacks will nearly one shot a chigoe. Also, due to very high hit points and def, even an enpetrify moster will have trouble killing them unless they try a tp move early on against a side attacker. They do not turn to the side.
Ram's can be trained to petrify against any tp move, and to rams charge against magic attacks. Give it good att ratings, and they can kill most other pets easily.
    Ghosts, I've already covered.

I'm currently working on a qutrub (drain spam + tp moves), and possibly a chariot...

I have an autoregain ghost that I use to kill elementals like the one mentioned by Aucks. It works very well against them. Unfortunately, spamming ectosmash leaves it vulnerable to mobs that sidestep.

Other mobs that can kill elementals are ones that sidestep with an enspell.

    Two examples:
Atk Speed Bonus (innate) + En-element + Element Atk Bonus (Bees)
Atk Speed Bonus (innate) + MNK main + MNK job traits + En-element (Apkallu, Mandragora)

They don't necessarily always win though due to not having enough hp to survive the spells being cast on them depending on what is cast. So, it's helpful if the mob comes with an HP boost of some sort or Autoregen.

I'm currently playing with the triple gears set, any suggestions on the innate I should be looking for (if damage resistance is possible to get as innate or can only be added), and what else to be looking into. Thank you.

Depending on their main job, I'd probably take any of the following:

    Light attack bonus
    Magic Attack bonus
    AutoRegain
    Damage resistance bonus

Any of those would be good for an innate.

If you want to get damage resistance bonus as a plate to add later, I'd recommend taking pic's of wivre's out at the colibri merit camps. I usually get 2 or 3 per stack of plates.

Also, whatever you chose to add is based on their job, I'd need to know that before making any real recommendations.

Triple Gears are ranger main jobs.

Ranger main job has its benefits. I'm pretty sure that since the attacks are considered ranged, they're not affected by spikes.

    Recommendations:
If you give it a ranger job traits plate, you should get an extra 35 acc at level 50.

I'm pretty sure that pankration works the same as normal fights, since the gear is using ranged attacks, they shouldn't be subject to spike damage.

Light attack bonus will enhance the damage of Rail Cannon, as will Magic attack bonus.

Rail cannon's effect is based on how many gears there are in the cluster. Getting one off while you've got all 3 of them up will wipe shadows and do good damage.

Basically beyond that you want to maximize your damage dealt with rail cannon, and minimize the damage you take. Against elementals, something that enhances your magical defense is essential. Magic def bonus, Int bonus, phallanx, shell... all of those are decent for reducing damage taken from spells.

If you can get Autoregain as an innate, you don't need to worry much about hitting for damage with normal attacks. Just focus on your Weapon skills and you should be fine.

If you have the points available, and want to try it, you could give them additional light damage, but I'd only do that if it has light attack bonus, or attack speed bonus as well.

here is a few questions, although I think gears has great potential, however at 65 FP total it really limits its potential, unless I got something that's FP expensive on the innate. So my first question is, as far as I know, innates are random as hell, but are there certain innates that are impossible for certain pit monsters to get?

In related to that, is auto-regain, damage reduction (how is this different from magic def bonus), or MDB, instant shell/stoneskin are several things I can think off to face an ele with spikes/shadows/dmg red/possible phalanx, but still needs to see what I can get off of an innate in the first place.

third question is, if I take pics of single gears, are they turned into triple gear pets? from BGwiki and the otherwiki I don't see the option for a single gear pet.

From my experiences, there's a random chance for one of the following innates:
    Auto-Regen/Refresh/Regain
    Resist Poison/Blind/Sleep/Gravity/Petrification/etc.
    Damage Reduction Bonus
    Magic Damage Reduction Bonus
    MP+15%
    HP+15%
    Attack+15%
(maybe some others I can't recall atm)

I don't think it makes an exception for a particular monster regarding which of the above it can get. (Example: Getting autorefresh on a monster with no MP)

Then there's a random chance that you will get whatever is on the plate except enspells, enstatus, bareffects, and instant effects. Getting one of the random ones I listed above and the skill on the plate is the best you can hope for.

For the difference between MDB and Magic Damage reduction, there are other threads on the forum that go over that.

Pics of single gears will turn into single gear pets. I guess I need to correct the wiki, cause they actually have different FP gain rates if I remember correctly.

Semi-relevant to the topic: my pit antlion that I originally made as a chigoe killer can beat elementals about 75% of the time, too. As long as it doesn't miss Pit Ambush and I'm there to control it(to make it side attack) it's really easy.

Haven't played with it in a while but I believe it had:
    Attack Bonus(innate)
    STR+25
    Attack+15%
    Instant Stoneskin
    Instant Blink
    STR bonus

Could one-shot level 50 chigoes when it was lv35ish. If anyone actually still does pankration for fun, I highly recommend pit antlions.

Seems the Triple Gears are still doing melee swings, do I need the "Ranger job trait" plate for them to perform ranged attacks? and at 65 FP total it seems really hard to build something that's reliable. Auto-Regain (not the bonus one) is 58 FP, it seems w/o rail cannon it's almost impossible to get through the Blink/SS and not to mention the melee thing mentioned above, it seems the survivability long enough to even perform a TP move is almost impossible.
