    Jailer of Love questions

Our shell has made two attempts at love and failed. We're aware of the strategies for pulling and nuking adds, as well as holding two. The real problem we're encountering is finding the sweet spot for our tanks. We've tried several distances from 4-10 paces and still seem to get drawn in. Is there an actual exact spot to stand to avoid melee hits and draw in? Also any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time everyone.

14,5"~15" Away from JoLove at the wall, Whms standing near the waterline

Once your around 10"~13" just by the edge of his hood, ur also in range of him useing tp moves on your tanks

Not sure of the distance in numbers, but it's just outside the circle of the head of the jellyfish part (boy does that not make sense). You also have to not pull it too far out of the cove it spawns in, or it'll draw in anyway.

Awesome! Thanks so much guys! I think we were pulling it a little further out than the picture. That may be the reason. Perhaps we were too close to the mob as well. Either way we'll definitely try it out. I really appreciate the help. Any other advice is appreciated as always. Thanks again!

While we're asking JoL questions, with that positioning, which way does JoL face? My LS has the main tanks stand on the NW side, where the off tank/healers is marked. In this position JoL oddly faces NE. I'd like to know if he still faces NE when the main tanks are positioned as pictured.

We never separate the tanks. We don't use pullers either. Just have the blms ga III them right off of the tanks. We usually use 2 PLD/RDM for tanks, but RDM/NIN works great too.

Also I would suggest using rangers over standard melée. They are straight up monsters against JoL, and in my experience with regular melée he's more apt to charm the instant hate shifts for a split second. Then there's also primal drill and the fact that with def boost up melée hit for 0 while rangers hit for about 100. We use tank pt + blm pt + 3-4 rngs and a brd/cor and can take him down with 16 or so in less than 20 minutes.

If you position one whm in between the two tanks, you can use Esuna, Barelement and bareffect spells to help them out. With Afflatus Misery up, using Cura is a great way to keep them alive (along with the WHM) at very little MP cost. They should be outside of GA range of each other, but the WHM will be in GA range of both. We've done this with 15 people and it's not very difficult. 2x PLD, 2x~3x WHM, 5x-6x BLM, 2x DRK, 3x NIN (or other vokers for the babies.)

That's not a standard setup. We normally have BRDs and/or RDMs along with a few other different jobs as well.

QFT, RNGs are king, we do a bard rotation similar to a zerg fight on our RNGS, and use PLD/RDM to tank. 10 RNGs and JoL is done in 5-6 min. Hate usually iffy at the end due to over zealous RNG.

No it doesn't. If you read what I said, when the tanks are on the NW side of JoL, it still faces NE.

Yeah, JOL faces directly out of the little alcove. Not towards the PLDs. (AKA the arrow in the picture is pointing to JOL's Back) Wouldn't recommend THF sub anyways and SAM who get in front for overwhelm will end up getting para/slow/blind/etc because they will end up too close to the tanks.

Any melee, as long as they are war sub and have meat or minuet, shouldn't be hitting 0's >.> but RNG do eat JOL pretty quickly

I bet your tanks really enjoy it when JoL Astral Flows when the 3 mobs are on top of them too. You really should pull them off the tanks to avoid any unnecessary deaths and hate switching.

i've died 1000 times to 3 Phuabo TP'ing me at once... usually do like, 500~700 DMG each, even in full HP Gear i can't survive over 2100 DMG ...

    i'd love if my LS learned how to pull them ._., but at the same time if they pull a group of Goldfish and he Astral flows, they could Sinnate Rush and kill every single BLM and theres a wipe on your hands x.x;

There is a difference though. Your RDM/NIN puller will be running away. The mobs won't TP if you are out of range. If your BLM add party is good they will all be casting at relatively the same time and kill the mobs before they can get their TP move off. Deaths will happen though, the add party should have full stoneskin/blink/phalanx up. 3 minutes between spawns is enough time to -ga them down, rest full mp and rebuff.

good 2h melee with proper food/buffs shouldn't be hitting for 0's. once the pld had it in position we'd go up in a group of 3-4 melee, depending on who showed, drk, sam, war, drg, etc. when thf had feint up the drks would swap to mkris and burn, wash rinse repeat. not a SV zerg, just haste and double march with feint on. couple of rotations of that and it was done. fast and fun.

I am usually the tank and no I don't mind. With proper buffs astral flow is never a problem.

I was exagerating when I said 0, either way ranger is still the way to go IMO. Not everybody has rangers in their shell so whatever works for you.

    I believe it's 20 yalms to prevent draw-in and charm/drill

Everyone saying RNG is the way to go is correct; 10 min kills with this setup:

    Tank:

    WHM
    RDM
    BRD
    COR
    PLD/RDM
    DD

    PT2:

    RNG
    RNG
    RNG
    RNG
    COR
    BRD

    (all you need to kill)

PT3: (if you can spare it)

    RNG(DD)
    RNG(DD)
    RNG(DD)
    RNG(DD)
    BRD(COR)(DD)(RNG)
    COR(BRD)(DD)(RNG)
(highly suggest having at least 1 buffer here, but 2 att buffers seem to be more beneficial on RNGs)

    Adds:

    BLM
    BLM
    BLM
    BLM
    COR

    Holding:

    RDM
    PLD
    PLD
    PLD

(Of course this is for large numbers, but you can achive this with as little as 20 people for a 10 minute kill setup.)

My linkshell would never move JoL and PLDs would do a flash rotation to pull mobs off of the main PLD tanking JoL.

We did this as well, was excellent for dropping large chunks of HP off. Ridill and BZ were acceptable too. KC only with BW up.

for those that allow the pets to be 'held' by the main tank, how do you deal with the added dmg? snetinel obviously wont be avaliable for every spawn, so is it just a matter of fast nukes with cure bombs ready or is there something you can do to hold the pets on 1 tank for a period of time. i'm most curious about what to do if a blm or two die and are weakened. my only thought was single target nukes instead of -ga if there aren't enough blm up to ensure a 1shot.

RDM/nin Shldnt be pulling the ADDs directly to the BLMs pull it offset this way when they Astral Flow it only hits the rdm who shld surive with stoneskin/Shadows/Phal Blms -ga from the side

We -ga right off the tanks too. Pop on Haut and a shield, put repraisal up, take a hit or two, adds are dead by the time they have the chance to do any real damage.
