    360 HDMI connection

Quick question -- had my 360 RROD about a year ago, had it since 2008, never had any problems with it till or since the red ring. Whenver I view anything on Netflix, if I try and press 'B' to cancel out of the program, or pull up the mini-dashboard menu and hit Y to exit to the full dashboard, my TV goes blank and it just says "No video signal" even though the 360 is on and running just fine, HDMI cable's still connected just fine, none of the wiring changed or anything between me watching Netflix and the TV going blank. I have 3 other HDMI slots on the TV but haven't tried any of them to see if it fixes the connection problem, is that worth a go?

Same HDMI cable I've used since 2008. And it only ever occurs when I have to close out of something that's streaming, same thing with the ESPN channel as with Netflix. Anyone have this issue before or know what it could be? Just an old system or what?

I would avoid the headache by just calling and getting a replacement.

Try changing your hdmi output setting, it's likely on Auto. See if one of the other settings like ycbr709 works better.

Also, I would try to just delete all the Netflix files you have on your XB360's HDD so it forces you to reinitiate the Netflix update next time you try to select it. It's possible some of the files got corrupt.

by chance are you guys on Toshiba tvs?

if that is the case, i've read that these tvs commonly have this problem. there is a firmware update on their site to fix it.

Well there is the Toshiba issue, then I read this as well.

    SOLVED AT LAST!!

My problem with not getting any signal at all when I upgraded to the newest firmware was an HDCP issue. The Xbox wasn't getting an HDCP handshake from the TV and so it wouldn't boot at all.

I did some research online and it seems that is an issue that many other Xbox users were having with TVs of many brands. The only variable in the equation was the HDMI cable itself, so I replaced my old cable and everything is working perfectly!

I suspect my old cable wasn't HDMI 1.3 compliant, thus it didn't take the handshake from the TV. My new cable IS 1.3 compliant, and it gets a handshake no problem.

Thanks so much to Jim and Toshiba for all of the support! Now to watch some Netflix...

It is a Toshiba TV, actually. Good to know there's a fix for this. So just find a 1.3 HDMI-compliant cable and I should be golden?

You might not need the cable. Install the newest firmware and see if it works. If not then its the cable
