PSP to computer connection

When you hook a PSP up to a PC via USB, is the PC supposed to give a prompt or something that it detects it? My friend is trying to put music on his and doesnt have a memory stick reader on his computer and he is saying the computer is detecting it but he has made sure his usb ports work. Any ideas?

Just plug it in, if your friend's pc has "autoplay" enabled, it should automatically go to the designated drive (usually E:\). If it doesn't recognize it for some reason, set the psp on "USB mode," and find the drive.

If your computer is set to autoplay it then it will pop up and ask you what you want to do. If not, just go to My Computer and look for a removable device and you should be good.

On the PSP side of thing, when you connect a USB that's connected to your computer the PSP should automatically go into USB Connect mode. If not, scroll to the left and tell it to manually do so. If there's a problem with the USB the PSP will tell you it couldn't detect it or something.

Sorry I meant it doesn't detect it and idk if he has auto play enabled. How do you enable it if he doesn't?

Have to have enabled USB access in the system tab on the XMB.

This makes the disc readable via USB, otherwise all you're doing by plugging it in is charging it.
