Battlefield Bad Company 2(ps3 beta 19th, PC december)

PS3 beta starts on the 19th and PC open beta in December.

In order to participate in you beta you need to pre-order the game from gamestop.

Which is what I'm going to do when I pick up MW2.

Hands-on: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta

Announced yesterday, the multiplayer beta for EA and DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is going to give PS3 owners (and only PS3 owners) a one map appetizer on November 19 for the main course coming March 2, 2010. The beta features one match type -- Rush, a version of Bad Company's Gold Rush ... only without the gold -- and takes place in the sun-baked seaside locale of Arica Harbor.

Last week, we took part in a 24-player stress test for the beta (the version coming Nov. 19 will support 24 players, as will the final game) and came away rattled but ready for more. You can read about how it all went down after the break.

I saw a few videos of it on Joystiq from the pre-beta, I was surprised, it looks a lot better than I thought it would. Also, so glad they brought back the ATV buggies, used to have so much fun with them in BF2: Special Forces

I think they said there's no need for a 360 beta because they've got everything working right with it.

From what I've read, that is what 360 fanboys have been saying. I've looked around and seen no mention of them saying it's complete on 360. PC beta launches next month though so you won't need a PS3 to get in on the beta.

The beta for the first one was on 360, now their giving it to the PS3 first this time around, not because it isnt complete.

In a number of interviews DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke has spoken in reference to the PS3 and PC betas for BFBC2. Here's a snippet from one of the interviews:

Tordavis: Why no 360 beta?
Gordon: Public betas are optional, not required. There will only be a demo on Xbox 360.
Tordavis: Was the PS3 beta an exclusive deal made by Sony?
Gordon: No, it was just down to logistics & timing.
Tordavis: Why does the PC need a beta?
Gordon: This is the first PC title on Frostbite & a beta is essential. Beta is a common term used for these events, but we are actually in Alpha stage of development, not Beta.


Although the game is still under embargo, having heard from a few people who have had hands on with it, the general consensus from those people is that the game is absolutely fantastic, especially from a graphical and audio point of view, not to mention the great destructible environments and addictive gameplay. This game is quite obviously a massive step forward from the first BFBC in just about every department.

Also large parts of the current competitive COD scene are seriously looking at this game as being the next move from COD4 as DICE will continue to support dedicated servers. In fact they keep indirectly taking shots at IW with their recent and continual tweets/blogs/interviews to gamers surrounding the issues and their game is seriously looking to make major moves in light of IW's shunning of the PC community. This game by all accounts, thus far, is one to definitely pick up for fps fans in 2010.

That's what I'm hoping, I was a little disappointed with BFBC1, but the videos I've seen so far of the sequel have impressed me.

True for the IGN keys but the method for getting beta access is different for Europe. Beta codes are available from "selected" retailers if you pre-order and some gaming community/websites will have beta keys to give away.

4Players.de for example has 10,000 beta keys to give away free.

UK residents can get a beta key by pre-ordering at GAME and I'm sure there will be plenty more options available to people interested in the coming weeks.
