    ibuypower laptops

Anyone buy a laptop from ibuypower.com before? If so, and feedback on them? I'm looking into buying one but idk how well they work, and are there alot of bugs and glitches with them.

I've bought a laptop (5+ years ago) from IBP as well as a desktop (recently). The desktop works beautifully, but I did have a recurrent problem with the laptop's screen flickering.

I got warranty service on it and they just replaced the LCD, which didn't fix a thing. I sent it back again and that resolved the issue for about two months before it started flickering again.

I eventually fixed it myself and found out that the cable that controlled the laptop's backlight was crunched and it made my screen flicker. I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue with the company but I'm convinced the IBP people never figured out what was wrong they just coincidentally fixed it temporarily when they put in fresh LCDs.

The laptop runs well to this day... relative to its internal technology. It's definitely slow, but back in the day I don't think I ever complained about it. And relative to a single core desktop that is about the same speed it's up to par.

I'm probably going to buy another one soon and will probably go back to them just out of price concerns. But yeah tech support = zzzz.

Here's a tip. Read their feedback forums and customer reviews..

    My review: they fucking suck..

Why? I bought a sweet ass computer and after finally getting to my house (two months after I ordered it.. this includes the fact I paid extra for "faster" delivery) it had four different issues with it. Bad graphics cards, bad memory sticks, broken electrical wiring, and a screw missing off the side casing. And this is of course after it went through their "Quality and Assurance" that it made it to my house.

I returned the computer, got it back two weeks later and the graphics card was still bad along with one bad memory stick.

I return the graphics card for the same one .. after they tell me it's the card messed up but it ends up being the MOBO.

Long story short? Customer service was horrible, parts were shoddy, and I would never touch that website again if my life depended on it. Maybe laptops are different but just use common sense and read feedbacks. God knows I wish I did. I ended up with an amazing computer that was much better AND cheaper (but not as nice of a casing) from Dell.

They have horrible customer service, and it took them forever to get me the PC I had ordered, other than that my PC has been running fine since I got it 2 years ago.

Agreed. Some of the most stupid customer service reps I have ever talked to. I don't know much about computers so I rely on the company I'm buying from to know what I'm talking about. End result with these people? I was having to talk them through shit.. -_-
