    Chanter Discussion Thread

Okay so my Chanter is now at 28 and I'm really enjoying it so far. My only problem is not having any idea on what armor to get for her. Considering blue's and crafted blues are so expensive.

    Right now, I'm kinda eying the Freedom set which is cheaper then the Expert gear at 33. But not entirely sure what to get. Any ideas? o.o;

Don't worry about gear, you are only 28, is my opinion.

How are chanters later on (Falisa, etc.) because mine just dinged 23 and am loving the killspeed and easy of soloing mobs (especially after playing glad and temp). Just wondered if chanters start to fall off in damage eventually, or just becomes a pain in the ass to solo later on?

35-40 was kind of annoying for me, I'm 40 now and Splash Swing makes life a million times better.
In groups our damage seemed to really drop, considering when I would duo with my templar buddy I'd kill things only slightly faster then him using sword n board. Then again I'm still stuck using Hannet's staff which is a pos.
In groups chanter is a blast, K HQ was alot of fun mainly because we're always stuck with some pretty bad clerics.

The no down time on chanter soloing is great though.

I quit Aion a few weeks ago :\ I honestly think if I had chosen a class other than chanter I would still be playing. I'm just not a healer and chanter got extremely boring for me. So I can't exactly give a good opinion of the job lol When I got halfway into the 30s, it just dropped off for me and I wasn't having any fun anymore. I suspect the job would have picked up a lot if I had managed to reach lvl 42 for the stun move though.

Hmmm. Thanks for that anyway Falisa. Maybe I won't grind my chanter fast.

Chanters heal?! Most of the ones I see are like the old FFXI SMN: "Healing no thanks"

chanter is pretty much a bard in aion

you wont feel any difference at lower level but once u hit the 40+ stages, u will find out that w/o a chanter in your party, your going to hit lesser overall as a party, and that secondary heal is really much needed unless u want ur cleric to struggle. shits like lepharist random hate reset hurts w/o a chanter in party.

you also will low a chanter at later instances like SR and DC, and of course, DP.

sure u still can do 1 cleric party until 50 but it will not be as efficient as a chanter

however pvp wise, its different. chanter is a cure and run around job, or even a tank lol you may wanna go HP and parry in pvp at 50 to survive and do something

almost everyone go for chanter first in pvp. they softer than cleric and not that annoying to kill

therefore if u good in running arnd, lureing and baiting in pvp, your pretty good

most chanter i fight are retarded to think they get get away after they start a fight, but once they engaged me, they pretty much dead

unless they fly of course......flying sucks for melee, they really need fix that shit

chanter will NEVER die in the air in a fair fight situation unless ur fighting overpowered rangers

Chanter is 23 currently and loving it so far.

I am planning to get him to 30 and do a lot of rifting to get my PvP fix while leveling my ranger the last 4 levels to 50.

So far my only complaint is that from a glance the stigmas seem very meh in terms of usefulness and are not something I can look forward to much when I level up but maybe I am just being overcritical.

For me I love world pvp and enjoy it a lot and the ability to outrun my opponents is awesome, that and heals = OP at the 30's

As far as gear is concerned this will be my 3rd character to 30+ (SM is 25 and climbing with crafting/TG) so I will have 3/5 Daeva and I was going 2/5 crafted golds @33 but I think I'll hold out for the PvP boots and gloves to pocket the money rather than try and get them crafted, hopefully I should have the boots by 30.

I would also craft the 30 blue wrud pole if you can, it will last you until Morheim/Eltnen final campaign weapon and then the gold salix/elyosloghere equivilent if you want an attackspeed weapon.

What melee doesn't want an attack speed weapon?

Nah was a genuine question, no idea how good extendable weapons are but I assumed it was more useful than some atk speed.
Judging from your response I guess I was wrong.

It seems to me that it wouldn't really matter in a pvp situation(Melee vs Chanter).
PvPing as a chanter if your in range of your opponent and it isn't stunned you have to run for your life and hope IJ or HJ stun them. Use that AoE insta HoT to heal yourself and at 45 the 700+ HoT once they are stunned so they don't gain any ground on you.
Back to full HP stun them run in do your stun attack, 1 or 2 more then run for your life. If they get knocked down while your attacking you can do a lot more damage to them before you need to gtfo.
Of course while doing this you keep Word of Inspiration up so its up whenever your chance comes around.
Thats all 42+, before then we're kind of screwed 1v1 because our one heal can't out heal the damage a pretty decent Glad/Assassin, and if your not healing yourself they will kill you before you can kill them unless you get a good Parry strike off and maybe a knock down or 2.

Group pvp is a blast though, Word of Inspiration on melee wreck people on top of our 3k DP move.

Against mages... hope you have enough resistance and potions to even get to them before they shit all over your face.

all in all the attack speed weapon would maybe give you 1 extra attack before you had to run away from getting plowed in the face by a melee's superior dps. But yeah attack speed > expendable weapon

extendable weapon is the shit.....especially in air pvp.....att speed is still the best tho thats for sure, but it means shit if u cant hit anything in the air.....and thats a massive problem for melee ingame in air atm :\

extendable will come in handy here

however i think theres only 1 extendable staff in the game atm

idk if it has attack speed tho

Yeah it does have attack speed. That staff is the best staff for nearly every situation in the game, excluding purely PvE content which you could go for a staff that does not extend but has stronger DD stats instead.

Basically you're a joke in PVP, just run away until 42. Once you get IJ / SS you can hold your own.

PVE is what you make it. I enjoy playing a chanter. I usually have clerics asking me to heal less and DPS more.

I just hit 46 and got Swift Wing which should be fun. Good luck getting recovery spell.. Saw one on the AH today for 15mil on Siel... Im not getting that anytime soon it seems...

my cousin got recovery spell in sr today, and then WOI off a tayga in MM

i havent even seen Unwavering Devotion from any mob

talk about luck factor in this game -_-

gold are only for lucky people and bots, and not for dedicated or good players that grind

    believe it or not

I don't know what kind of PvP you're talking about, but as far as group PvP goes, chanters are never the first target. Why target something that does far less DPS than alternatives, and only has one cure worth mentioning (Recovery Spell).

In dredgion, you hit the spiritmasters/sorcerers/rangers first, or you're gonna wipe. Then you hit the cleric, then any hard hitting DPS running around, and lastly the chanter who's been mildly annoying one of your casters.

First targets are usually Sorcs. Just rifting on Kymira with a full party of 6 or sometimes more me and the other Sorcs are the first to be targeted. Chanters come second in the target scale followed by Clerics but that is usually a bad idea since a Cleric can just spam heal themselves if they don't get stun locked.

Anyway, I just hit 33 on my Chanter and having a dry spell of not wanting to do anything. I tried to go to the Abyss and grind some AP off mobs but with the way the Abyss fortress control is going it isn't working.

And on the plus side my Physical Crit is slowly nearing soft cap. With Crit buff I have 411 Crit.

The earring was a discount from the maker. It roughly goes for 2.5m to 3m on my server and guy sold it for 1.9m.

PvP wise, it is a bit hard but I've manged to make do. I went 3v3 and ended up being the tank since the Asmos kept trying to kill me. One cleric and two glads lol. I just kept wacking on the cleric knocking her down and cure spamming myself while the two glads kept trying to kill me. And the two other people I was with killed the Glads.

Food wise, I mostly use Frillneck sausage or random crit food. I don't want to hit soft cap because from there it just goes down hill. And I'm really looking forward to 42 even though the Stigma build I plan to use is going to be fuckin expensive. x.x
