    My CS3 is destroying my CR2 raw files

    My CS3 is destroying my CR2 raw files, this happens in the Camera Raw Editor. I have 10.5.8 installed on my Power PC and there was no problem for many months and now it seems to destroy files at random. Yes at random whenever it feels like it and I have the program open. I have reinstalled the software at least three times now. The last time making sure that I got rid of all files that were related too CS3.

    I am not sure what to do. I have this same software running on my Macbook Intel computer and there are no issues with it.
    This is what a typical destruction looks like.
    Does anyone have anything that they can suggest.

    Have you tried updating to the latest Camera Raw plug-in? I recently grabbed 5.6 myself and have had no issues with it, not that that means anything since we are dealing with different types of RAW files.

    But that would be a place to start? Perhaps the plug-in itself is damaged on your PC but still just fine on your Mac? Actually, not sure what the highest version you could update to being on CS3 (I am on CS4).

    I would at least try re-downloading the plug-in for PC though, and see if that solves the issue.

    I THINK that 4.6 is the highest update that is compatible with CS3? You can grab it here.

    I'm running CS4 and Camera Raw 5.6.0.134 and I haven't had that issue. That's damn strange. Does it completely corrupt the CR2 file? Can you view the CR2 files natively in the OS (using the codecs from Canon or something like fastpictureviewer) without opening them in Adobe? Do they open fine through those?

    I am curious about that too, Tyche. When you say destroy what do you mean exactly? Can you simply close RAW Editor/CS3 out and reopen the image to get around the wonky import or is that image ALWAYS opening up like that in the Editor no matter what? It really seems like they are not so much destroyed, but the Editor is unable to display them right.

    It really sounds like some kind of corruption somewhere outside of the file itself to me.

    EDIT: Do you happen to have Lightroom? Was curious if the RAW image opened there correctly or not...
