So i'm savin up this summer for a car to use while I'm in college only there's one predicament. Either I have to share a car with my dad the entire summer to use to go to and from work and it's been a real hassle lately. Or I can buy a car, but then after I buy it I have to take the 25~ hour trip to college at the end of summer, which I don't really feel the need to take. My dad said I should buy my car in florida but I'm not sure how this whole car sharing shenanigans will work. So should I buy it in NJ or FL? And anyone know shipping costs from Nj-FL?

Take a drive around your neighborhood for cars that look like they've been sitting around for a while. Dust and dirt all on the top of it, towing stickers in the windows, flat tires, etc. You can put your info in the window and ask the person if they're willing to sell their car, say you'll pay in cash.

You can also check out police auctions for cars that have been seized & shit. Depending on what you're willing to spend you can get your hands on some nice cars for $2,000 or $3,000. I dunno how much you're willing to put down, but whatever you do don't go to a used car dealership. You'll get financially raped.

If you find a car you like that someone actual responds to you about ask them if you can drop by and check it out, doesn't hurt to bring someone who knows a lot about cars just in case the sucker is a junker. You can just let it idle for 5 minutes or so and watch the heat, just to make sure the engine is alright.

buy the car in nj and take the 18-20 hour drive, leave at night so less traffic, arrive during the day
