a couple questions

I did a quick search but didn't see anything so I apologize if this has been covered. I just have a couple questions is all.

First, I need a new router, and I'm wondering is anyone here has any recommendations at all. My current one is belkin but I haven't heard a lot of good things about their newer routers.

Second, I'm also about to get a PC, been looking at parts and everything for a little over 6 months and I know what I'm getting for the most part. The CPU is my only thing left to decide on. should I go with the Phenom II 955, or the 1090T. I'll be playing Starcraft 2 and FFXIV on it as well as doing some video encoding and some stuff for my classes, Graphic Design Major.

I'm set on AMD because I've always had the crappiest luck getting fully working parts from intel, or nvidia for that matter, I always seem to get the faulty ones. Nothing against them, just never get the working parts lol

Just asking from some quick opinions/suggestions.

I'd go with the 1090T. The 1090T won't be as good in gaming as the II 955, but it will still be incredible for FFXIV and SC2. In apps designed to use multiple CPU threads (video conversion, encoding, rendering) the 1090T will be a lot of help.

Thanks for the response, was leaning towards the 1090T. Out of curiosity, is there a noticeable difference in gaming between the two? I'm new to multi-cores in general, this current computer I play XI on is only single core <,<

Answer probably won't effect my choice really, just curious at what the difference between the two really are in terms of gaming.

Long and short, unless you've got a supercharged graphics card (GTX480 or HD5970) you're really not going to see much difference.

It's true! No point in buying high end graphic card(s) if you're not going to overclocked them. And usually if you want to fully overclocked you'll have to get some water cooling.

sorry to bump from page 2, but figured I post in here instead of making a new thread for myself. I have everything but the RAM specs keep confusing me when I go to look at it. The Motherboard is the ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 AM3 board and I'm just nt sure which RAM will work good.

I have the compatibility list thing from asus's site open but none of the RAM I look at are on the list. I was thinking this RAM:

Since it's stated that it was specifically designed for socket AM3/BE CPU's but it's not on the list either so I'm at a loss as to if it'll work or not.
I don't need DDR3 1600 like the linked RAM, 1333 would probably be just as good for me, if anyone has any suggestions regarding that as well.

Everything else is set to go, just missing RAM now, the numbers and compatibility lists just have me all confused and frustrated. Last question on computer parts, only thing I may com back to ask is if I have problems with the computer after putting it together.

Edit: nvm, I found some that were on the vendor list now, so I'm good, now to order.
