You shouldn't really ever have to worry about mana. One of the core priest healers in my Heroic Icecrown guild wore crit/haste in every slot and gemmed straight spellpower. I used to wear spirit gear with INT gems, but the days of having to manage your mana are long gone. You can pretty much spam heals during an entire fight and still never run low.

which meta do you think and which alternate gems should I use to compensate? forums I were reading said to stack int but that didn't sound right.

Ember Skyflare Diamond - +25 Spell Power and +2% Intellect

or

Insightful Earthsiege Diamond - +21 Intellect and Chance to restore mana on spellcast

depending on how comfortable you are with your longevity. The 2% from ESD beats the 21 INT on IED, but the IED proc is about 75 effective mp5. If you're running with pugs or a scrub guild, you might want to consider INT gems and spirit gear, it can really come down to the wire if half your group is dead and you have to last as long as possible. Specs and gear choices come down to personal preference all the time, in PVE and PVP, it doesn't matter much either way.

I mean, my throughput is fine wearing my regen set and my regen is fine in my throughput set. Gear doesn't fucking matter in this game.

Generally in blue sockets you'll want to use Purified Majestic Zircon (spellpower/spirit), or you can use a nightmare tear to fulfill a lot of meta requirements. Instead of using pure red or yellow gems, you can buy hybrid gems from the heroism vendor for 10 emblems and use Reckless Ametrine (spellpower/haste) in your red and yellow sockets.
