2008 model, everything will be stock/base except the ram, added 10GB of ram to it.

Also included if desired is a copy of Leopard Server Edition OSX.

Still has a year of Applecare left on it, though it's never so-much as hiccuped.

Offtopic out of curiousity - what are you upgrading to? Going dual 6-core Westmere?

I've been looking hard at a Mac Pro myself - but I wish I could just buy the framework and purchase and install my own RAM, HD, Processors, Videocard instead of paying the Apple markup.

Mac Pro is like the only product apple sells that's cheaper to buy then build your own using identical parts.

Which has like 99% to do with fact that buying Xeons as a consumer is a rip-off vs the bulk pricing these companies get, and the xeons make up most of the cost.

I wish the same, but only cause I'd use different and slightly cheaper components(not cause I could get the same components cheaper).

As for upgrade, not actually decided yet, I'm either going for a new 12core westmere macpro, or if I decide to go windows/nix route, I might build some 24-48core AMD operton monstronsity considering how cheap they are.

If anyone wants, I can include an ATI 5870 flashed/hacked to work on OSX for $400 extra(cost to replace it for myself basically, since I'm sure most people don't wanna risk(or know how, not that it's hard) flashing their own cards.). XFX so still comes with lifetime warranty.
