I'm looking to build pretty much new, looking for feedback on the parts, etc; trying to stay under $1500 CAD (this build is actually slightly over).

I'm torn on the mobo, not sure if I should drop down to the Rampage 3 Formula or Gene (as far as I can tell only difference is PCIE slots, although the PSU is based on the power requirements of the Extreme).

missing a video card! I havent heard of the silverstone brand of PSU, looking through newegg, there's a 850w by antec for a little cheaper

That mobo is pretty outrageous, and the reviews are really mixed.

I bought that corsair power supply and just installed it today, everything went smoothly. I agree that motherboard is way over the top, I went with the asus p6x58d-e and everything worked out ok for me.

There are plenty of great mobo's between 200-300$. You should not be breaking 300 on a mobo unless you are going for 3-4x SLI and/or a benchmarking build.

Even 300$ is pushing it with the other rampages. Asus and Gigabyte have several really high rated mobo's in the 100-200$ price range and thats with 2x usb3.0's.

There is a reason why there are 400+ reviews on some of the mobo's on newegg.

I found a rating site that actually loved Silverstone PSUs (but now I can't find the link ). Also, the PSU is actually needed for the mobo as it has some interesting power requirements. My current PC is severely lacking in the mobo (why I need to upgrade) which is probably why I'm going over the top on this one.

With regards to the video card, my friend works @ ATI so I buy through him @ discount

As an update, I read some more reviews on Silverstone and they state that although it is almost as good as other major manufacturers, they lack in true power and noise reduction. I have switched out to a cooler master psu. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817171048
