It's Mount and Blade with grinding, but at the same time, actual persistent stats and shit. It's much better than native multiplayer.

like sometimes they just come at you, and you've got your shitty peasant shield and you try blocking and it's gone in one hit and that's when you knew it was over but it was always over whether you knew it or not

As a peasant, survival is a triumph.
You follow the people who are wearing something better than complete shit, while holding your shield out in front of you to block some of the inevitable rain of arrows. Horses are just bad news but you can try stabbing them.
