eCheck through Paypal

I just sold an item on ebay for over 1000$, and the buyer, who has low feedback (1 lol), and an unconfirmed address (lolll) paid by echeck a few hours after winning the bid. Usually, I would just deny it and go to second chance offer, but he paid by echeck so that makes things different.

From what I've read, once it clears, I should be pretty safe. Is that true? Paypal explicitly states to not ship the item until payment has cleared, which could be up to a week, no big deal, and according to some forums I browsed it seems that as the seller I'm actually safest when dealing with an echeck because a chargeback cannot occur and I can't get ripped off.

But I wan't to protect myself to the fullest. After receiving the payment, I sent an email to the buyer copy and pasting what paypal told me, which was to wait, and I'm going to require an adult signature on delivery of course. Is this enough to protect myself? Is there any thing more I can do so that I don't lose out? And if he does try to rip me off, what else can I do to document and get my money/item back just in case? Currently, it says that it's not eligible for seller protection, but if signature is required and all the other steps are followed, I should be ok, right? Note: You're not eligible for seller protection before the payment clears. Once the payment clears, you may be eligible for seller protection if you meet the requirements in our user agreement.

This is what I sent him after receiving his echeck a few minutes ago (the auction ended 7hours ago, so he didn't send the check immediately):

Dear Buyer,
Thank you for your quick payment. Since you have paid via eCheck, and have low feedback, as per Paypal's recommendation I will not ship the item until payment has cleared. This may take several business days. As soon as payment clears, I will ship the item via UPS immediately, and receipt of the item will require an adult signature. If this is an inconvenience, or not possible for you, then please let me know as I will have to give a second chance offer to the next highest bidder.

Paypal's statement: "You received an eCheck payment. Like a regular paper check, an eCheck may take 3-5 days to clear. That's why you'll see the transaction status set as "Pending". Your buyer has sent the payment, but if you're shipping a physical item, we suggest you wait to send it out until the eCheck clears. We'll email you as soon as the money is in your PayPal account."

I also suggest that in the meantime, you confirm your paypal address for faster transactions. Thank You.

I used to pay by Echeck years ago, just wait till it clears and you're fine, then you're really only subject to the usual Paypal scams. Everytime I shipped something from Ebay I'd normally pay extra for verification and delivery signature confirmation that would get sent back to me as record of the transaction having existed, since I could easily pull up the USPS transaction number at the Post Office + a tracking number + having that confirmation.

tldr; No matter what he tries to tell you in emails, wait for it to fully clear and move the money out before you send it.
