New vid card, internet acting up

My old video card (HD4870) got fried, RMA'd it, ASUS said they don't carry it anymore and replaced it with a HD5770. Ever since I installed it a couple days ago, various online features have stopped working. I can connect to the internet fine through some programs like browsers and online games, but a lot of stuff that accesses a specific server doesn't work, like Steam's store (the friends list and games work fine, though), Windows Live messenger, Windows update, Weather aps, etc. Most of them say I'm not connected to the internet.

I've tried restarting my computer multiple times, turning off all antivirus/firewalls, reinstalling the programs, putting my computer's local IP on DMZ through the router, rolling back my Wireless card's drivers, re-updating its drivers, and nothing is working. Not really sure where to go next aside from a complete reformat.

Hardware:
ASUS ATI HD5770 1gb (formerly HD4870 512mb)
Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)
AMD Phenom II x4 920 @2.8 GHz
4gb DDR2 RAM

Using Windows 7

Only suspicious thing that's happened aside from the hardware change is when I first put it in, it did a disk check before booting up, something about making sure everything was formatted to NTFS properly, and it deleted a bunch of indexed files, so maybe that's causing a problem?

Does your motherboard have on-board video? Could try using that and disabling the new card to see if that is causing issues somehow.

Put your Windows CD in the drive.

Start, Run, CMD, sfc, enter. Let that run and reboot.

He is using Windows 7. Chances are that he doesnt need to use the CD. During the windows 7 install, a separate partition is created with system files for recovery.

Random question but are you on school internet? I had a similar issue to me and it was them fucking with my ports for some reason

Nope, my own router. I've put my comp on DMZ to make sure it wasn't some random ports stuff.

Trying this right after my post, will update with results once it's done.

Edit: Holy shit I am an idiot, I somehow accidentally (or maybe the disk check/vid card swap accidentally) clicked the 'Use a proxy server for your LAN' tab under connection settings. Everything works perfectly now, I appreciate the help and apologize for wasting your time.

He could have been one of those people who are retarded and delete that partition.

I'm curious about the recovery partition. Is that an option during the installation? I don't have it myself and don't remember seeing it during the installation.
