WTS Used Intel I7 920 Processor

Hello, I'm looking to sell my old Intel i7 920 that I replaced a month ago. The processor is about 6months old (bought it with my computer back in July '10) and is currently chilling in the box for my i7 950. Also comes with the cooling fan that the 950 came with. However heatsink will be needed for it. If anyone is interested just toss me a PM with offers. Thanks for looking.

Just so you know, take it to amazon.com. People here will pay 1/4 of what you can get from a fool who doesnt know any better. Even after the fee they charge I made twice the best offer from here.

Also, if stepping is C0 or D0 might help you sell it faster if favorable

Unfortunately I have no idea what stepping it is. It probably isn't since the computer came pre-built. Saw they had i7 950s for under $200 so I upgraded lol. Not sure if there is anyway to check without it being in use? I'm not much of a computer wiz.

Stepping means which revision of the CPU's die is being used. It happens when Intel makes very minor changes to a CPU's circuitry to tweak its performance. AMD does the same thing, although in most cases they will also release it as a completely new box model with a slightly higher clock (i.e. Phenom II x4 955 to 960).

You can determine the stepping by the model number stamped on the CPU's heat shield - if it ends in SLBCH you have a C0, SLBEJ is D0.

Ah, I figured that's what those letters were for. In that case mine is a D0.
