    New Gaming Laptop

I'm looking to get a new gaming laptop and I am thinking of picking this up

    http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?poid=514341

I like desktop replacement laptops. I don't move it much but like the portability if i need to bring it somewhere. I was wondering if it was worth the money or if there is another laptop around ~$1600 or less that i should consider instead. I want to be able to run new games coming out without any issues and have at least a 17" screen.

Not sure how the individual parts compare, but there's this that a friend showed me: http://www.pctorque.com/sager-5170-gaming-computers.php

That toshiba is a trap. 18" screen and not 1920x1080+? Full retard on toshiba when 15.6" and smaller screens are starting to have such options.

Go with a sager if you want power and options, like their NP8170 which can have up to nvidia's 485M or ati's 6970M on a 17" screen, or NP8150 for 15.6". They also have dual ati|nv gpu laptops at around $2.2-3k (3 hdds, 2 gpus, 2.5" thick, weighs in at 12lbs+ lol). The one Callisto linked will have some semblance of battery life, but at a cost of lesser gpu.

Can take a look here for high end stuff: http://www.xoticpc.com/ They list mostly asus and sager laptops. Just be sure to search models on google for performance numbers and such or any common problems before making this big investment.

I typically only use Toshiba laptops myself, but I don't game on them. Most of their standard ones are great for general use, I'd give a definite thumbs-up to getting a Satellite for browsing/office useage, but yeah, I'd really not recommend them for gaming, the price/performance ratio is just completely out of whack.

Agreed with the above posters suggesting sager laptops. They're really awesome.

I just received my new Sager last week. It's awesome, highly recommend one.

I also used the pctorque site above. I had a few special needs due to my location (overseas) and whatnot and they took care of me without any problem.

I bought my wife a Sony for $1100 that's pretty good. The model got discontinued so the new model is going for about $1300 now. Has an I7, 6gb ram, Geforce 460m(may be off on the model # but it's not the 310m in most mid level ones). Also has a BluRay Player with HDMI Out if you don't have a ps3/bluray player yet.

Bluray drive? Physical disks are obsolete, get more hard drives instead.
