Whats a good "scary" movie?

I've been looking for a good movie to watch with my bf that can actually scare me. Thing is that I really hate gore (think its stupid and uninteresting), want more "supernatural horror" like The Ring and The Grudge from back in the day. But unfortunately everything I've watched so far that I thought would fall in that genre has been meh. Anyone got any good suggestions? Hell, I'll even go for gore as long as the story is good and the people in it aren't fucking idiots.

The Strangers always creeps me out every time I watch it, even though I know what happens. Quarantine was kinda scary just because of the way the camera is the whole time, but it wasn't really a good movie.

I found myself wanting to watch more every time I finished Paranormal Activity, but looking back on it I don't really know why. I don't really think the movies were that great.

It does a great job of pulling you in and making you overlook some obviously bad moments. Scary movies that try too hard with the peripheral tend to fall flat ( see: every Saw movie after the first ).

I saw the mist in theaters. I liked it. I don't really consider that gore.. idk. Stuff like Texas Chainsaw Massacre i hate.
