Might and Magic: Heroes VI (PC) - Spring 2011

I couldn't find a thread for this... not sure how many HOMM fans there are on these forums but I figured it was worth a shot. HOMM1-3 were my crack back in the days.

    HOMM6 site: www.mmh6.com

    Debut Trailer:

    Dev Diary - Stronghold Faction:

    Q&A 1:

    Q&A 2:

    Combat:

    Gameplay w/ Boss fight:

    Story:
Might & Magic Heroes VI will take place in 564 YSD*, roughly some 400 years before Might & Magic Heroes V, at the time of the second Blood Moon Eclipse, and the Rise of Kha Beleth, the Demon Sovereign.
A legendary Archangel General, killed during the war of the Elder races, is resurrected. Under the cover of preparations for the upcoming Demon invasion, he plots to recover his powers and take control of Ashan while eradicating his ancient enemies. He underestimates, however, the power of the all-too-human Griffin dynasty...
Heroes VI tells the story of the Griffin dynasty, when they were still Dukes of the Holy Empire, and not yet sitting on the Imperial throne (like in Heroes 5 and Clash of Heroes). The Griffin Duchy is east of the Empire, a region that would correspond to the Slavic nations in our own world.
At the dynasty’s origins, The Griffin Duke Pavel* was a zealous servant of the Light and a trusted lieutenant of the Falcon Emperor. He met his demise defending his own duchy from a Demon host summoned by the dying wish of a desperate enemy. Pavel’s heroic last stand would ensure the survival of his son, Slava, who was only a boy at the time of these events.
Pavel’s sister Sveltana*, who had left her homeland to become a prominent Necromancer in the Seven Cities, was called back to act as regent to Slava and educate him in the ways of the Griffin.
Fifteen years and a war have past. Duke Slava of Griffin is now the father of five promising children. These are the main Heroes of the Heroes 6 campaign, and they will lead different factions to battle.
And for any HOMM3 fans out there:

Game is definitely a day one purchase for me since they seem to be going back to the HOMM3 look/feel/mechanics. No more 3D maps where you have to spin the camera cause resources are too hard to spot. Or low tier monsters never getting to attack because their initiative is dwarfed by higher tiered creations.

    MMH6 Ability Tree Might
This is the first panel of the Ability Tree.
It contains the Might Abilities your hero can learn by spending the Ability Points he receives each time he reaches a new level.
Might Abilities are divided into 5 families: from left to right, they are Paragon, Realm, Tactics, War Cries, Warfare.
On the picture you can see the War Cries Ability tree.
Some Might Abilities improve the stats of your Hero or your creatures, others give you unique combat abilities, others will help you boost your kingdom’s economy.

    MMH6 Ability Tree Magic

This is the second panel of the Ability Tree.
It contains the Magic Abilities your hero can learn by spending the Ability Points he receives each time he reaches a new level.
Magic Abilities are divided into 7 families: from left to right, they are Prime, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Darkness, and Light.
On the picture you can see the Earth Magic Ability tree.
Most Magic Abilities consume mana when used.
Some are support abilities, others inflict damage on the enemy, others will curse them with negative effects.

    MMH6 Ability Tree Hero

This is the third panel of the Ability Tree.
Every Hero has unique abilities linked to his faction and class.
These abilities are automatically gained when the Hero reaches a certain level or ascends to an Advanced Class.
You don’t have to spend Ability Points to unlock them.
    http://static9.cdn.ubi.com/en-GB/ima...tcm2113677.jpg
    MMH6_Chamber_of_Judgement

The Chamber of Judgment is a special building located in your towns.
When a Hero gathers enough Reputation, he can visit this Chamber to ascend to an Advanced Class.
There are 4 Advanced Classes available for each faction (Might Blood, Might Tears, Magic Blood, Magic Tears).
For instance, a Necromancer (basic Magic Class of the Necropolis faction) could become either an Embalmer (Path of the Dragon Tears) or a Reaper (Path of the Dragon Blood).

Actually will pre-order on Steam if there is a good incentive. (No beta access does not appeal to me at all)

    Hi all

I’m pleased to confirm the releases date for Might & Magic Heroes VI for you all as follows….
    US - 21st June
    Europe - 23rd June
    UK - 24th June
Pretty late imo... Hopefully the beta is soon. Also to add to the disappointment... Collector's Edition is only available in Central Europe. Digital Download with PDF goodies for everyone else. -_-

Thinking of ordering from amazon.co.uk but not sure what'll happen with the Beta key.

I spent so much time as a teenager playing IV (and to a lesser extent V). I absolutely cannot wait.. especially considering my disc for V won't work for some reason.

I wonder though, does everyone actually play through the scenarios? I am probably missing out by not doing so but I've always just played the random map generators and kind of made my own story as I went along. Did the same for all the Age of Wonders as well.

EDIT: FUCK ME. I saw the CD case a thousand times when looking for other shit but now when I look for it I CAN'T FIND IT WTF. /ANGRYFACE

I always played the HOMM3 Free For All map on multiplayer with friends from school. Didn't really get into playing the campaigns until I was a little older. Just recently played through the campaigns for HOMMV. Definitely playing the ones in this game.

    Fuck yeah for boss battles.

MIght and Magic Heroes 6 delayed until September
by Richard Mitchell (5 minutes ago)

It looks like there just isn't enough might or magic to help Might and Magic Heroes 6 make its June 21 launch date. A Ubisoft forum manager broke the news on the Might and Magic Heroes 6 forum, noting that the date has been pushed to September 8. No reason was given for the delay, so we're just going to assume that orcs did it.
    God damnit. ><

let us know how good or not good the game is. I felt really burned after HoMM5, so I'm wary.

That makes 2. Have really high hopes on it, and would pay full price if it is indeed worth it, but couldn't get into HoMM 5 for some reason. Though, really liked the King's Bounty games (speaking of... need to play the first still, been on my to do list )

Looks like you will need a key to log in. Also the UBI ID that you activated the key on.

    Gameplay:
    - No more speed rating that makes it so low tier creations never get a turn. Went back to HOMM3 Initiative/Turn system where each turn has a set order.
    - Heroes can attack whenever they want (once per turn). You're not prompted to use your heroes' turn so need to keep track of that.
    - Attacking displays damage + amount of creatures killed. Not sure if you can turn this off so it just shows the number you killed but its not that big of a deal.
    - All interactions in the campaign are voice acted. So far they've been pretty good.
    - AI turns are MUCH faster than they were in HOMM5.
    - Computer AI is a little more strategic than previous games. This is obvious when you go to capture a castle. They won't rush out of the castle and instead turtle with Archers while you try to break down the walls.
    - Walls have about 8HP and any hit takes of 1HP. Need to break it down before walking in. Siege weapons are still available. Hitting the wall is better than risking the damage from traps (they hurt a lot now).
    - Units can be placed in back tower to provide additional defense/damage.
    - Town screen is no longer what you're used to. Takes a bit of playing around to get the hang of it.
    - Leveling up gives players AP to use on abilities/traits/spells instead of randomly getting a set of abilities/traits/spells to choose from. Respec is possible. (Win)
    - Standing behind objects on the terrain (walls, boulders, etc) gives troops a defense bonus.

I'll probably post some videos later. Gonna try to finish these campaigns. They're pretty long so far. lol

    Bugs Encountered:
    - Cannot change into windowed mode with Eyefinity setup. Game will crashed. Disabled 2 monitors > changed settings > quit game > enabled monitors > play.
    - Random crashes during combat - unsure as to what is causing it. (Edit: Happens a lot near the end of a Siege battle when I start to shot the archer in the tower.
    - When running the game I get a no CD error. Just spam cancel on it to get game to open. lol
