City of Heroes/Villains is now officially F2P

Anyone else playing or is interested in trying or going back to CoX now that it is free to play? If you had an account, it's already reinstated as a free account. I'll be on the Champion server.

I remember playing the BETA for this when it was new, and it was actually pretty fun, a little repetitive, but fun. I think I may give this a 2nd chance. Plus I love all the wacky costumes!

How limited is the customization for f2p users? And which powers are limited to free?

edit: Insanecyclone on Champion, Villain. Have multiple trial accounts from years ago, will abuse those too. Made a Hero on Champion too named Mezraq.

The power sets aren't really limited. There might be a set that is a pay for one per archetype. All of the original ones from back when I played are available and with more options that came up from the villain side (like Plant Controller). All the classic costume pieces are still free, I think. But they have a ton of new sets that you can pay for that look really slick (I won't spend the money I don't think).

The "Going Rogue" expansion opens up the ability to defect between Heroes/Villains (which have different main archetypes) but that does cost money.

It looks like all the auras and most capes cost money...which I was pretty sad about. I have vet rewards so those carry over. So I have some wings and over the shoulder cape options that I got for playing the game x months.

Looks like the only place I might spend money is from character slots, if I get back into it hard.

Played this a looong time ago, but the acccount I had a Lv50 Villian on got banned from botting in Aion after it was stolen by RMT. Time to make a new one. Going to make another Villian on Champion server. Anyone going to make a BG, uh, legion or whatever it is here?

I might make one on the Hero side. I'll probably have a character on both sides but will primarily level Hero. Wanna try out a new combo. Ice/Ice Controller, baby!

I found out, they are not and that none of the Archetypes are villain or hero specific anymore. Arachnos can be Heroes or Shade/Peacewalkers can be Villains. The fuckers also made my Mastermind have to be bought. Bastards.

How long is "awhile"? My old NCsoft account that I had a Lv50 CoX character on got locked when some RMT stole it when I played Aion and don't feel like wading through 2+ years of bullshit to get it back.
