Media Player Classic volume issues

Media player classic's volume is really low comparatively to everything else on my computer. Yes, the volume mixer, it's set just as high as every other program.

It's not the media itself. I can open the same video in another player (such as windows media player or a video editing program) and the volume sky rockets. MPC is my player of choice, so I want to see how to fix this.

MPC's own volume control (not the one in the WIndows Mixer) is entirely seperate from the master (Windows) control, so make sure you turn it up real high there too.

Failing that, in options:

Internal Filters > Audio Switcher

There's a boost slider. Try dragging it.

How do I get to the internal filters? Can't find it.

Edit: Nvm just went to mpc's site and downloaded another one.

I forget where i had the first one at to begin with, lol, but it's only a few MB so w/e

The only prob is lol when i right click "Play w/ MPC" it still is using the old one

Edit: Nvm found the old one it was packaged with one of the codec packs I installed a while ago

ok after finding/deleting the old MPC and installing a new one, it's now not letting me set it as the default program for media and keeps defaulting to windows media player -.-

Did you download it from CCCP?

That gets bundled with the codecs and MPC. When you install it I believe it will let you set the default.

Otherwise, the other way is to manually right click your media files of choice, 1 of WMV, AVI, MKV, Mp4, etc, and then go to "Open With" and then "Choose Default Program"

Browse to your MPC and tick the box which says "always used the selected..."

Nah I wasn't treating you as dumb but it can be overlooked.

And if you couldn't find it initially I can only imagine you've got an ancient MPC (that had Windows Media PLayer 6 interface if I remember correctly)

That's what I was doing to begin with just when I choose MPC it just doesn't do anything and isn't added to the list of possible selections.

Not sure where I got it from the first time but that version is now gone.

Edit: Just tried to install the 32 bit version, can't set that one to default either

Alright, finally got it working from within. Options and file association then just hit all the diff video files. One last question. This new version has some gray text in the top left. When i pause it it says pause for a few secs and disappears, same with play and the title of a video when i first open the file. How do I get rid of this?
