Moving Windows 7 to a new HD

I want to move Windows 7 and essentially everything off of my current C: drive to a new HD and hopefully avoid reinstalling everything. My current C: drive is getting horribly old so I don't want to have key programs/games on it anymore. I think I have a good idea on what to do, but don't feel like messing anything up.

I have the new HD installed already as my F:\
I have created a back-up image of my current C:\ and the image is being stored on my F:\ .
I have a system-repair disc created from when I created the back-up.

I haven't done anything past this point, but are these the steps I follow?

1) Turn off PC. Disconnect current C:\ from motherboard
2) Change the connection of current F:\ to where the old C:\ was
3) Reboot PC off of the system-repair Disc
**This is where I get a bit worrisome on what to do since I don't know the options completely**
4) Find the "restore PC using a previously created image" option.
5) Hope that it finds the image saved on the new C:\ (previously my F:\)
6) Click OK...

I attempted this once, however I didn't change the connections of my HD's so it showed that the image was on my D:\ (CD drive). Please someone let me know if I'm missing anything, thanks!

Clonezilla booting off a CD should be able to copy the data on the drive and still keep the boot data intact. It's what I used when working a computer repair shop.

You need to clone the drive however you do it. Windows doesn't include drive clonging tools, from what I've seen. Otherwise you have to do a clean install and then use WIndows 7 Easy Transfer to migrate the settings and documents, but programs are going to have to be reinstalled. I do a clean reinstallation every year to keep my system running nicely, since Windows generates so much system clutter over that time, and I install so many programs that I only use a handful of times.

My 10 TB array has backups of all my program installers and my files aren't stored on my OS drive, so this method has worked for me for years.

Reinstalling is like spring cleaning. You put it off for months, then finally do it and feel much better afterwards, plus you find a bunch of socks/porn you forgot about.
