at first socialists and marxists annoyed me but

Now i realize that they at least have the capacity to organize and mobilize, and they have the ideological fervor to actually take action. Meanwhile, other liberals just criticize and sit around with an undeserved smugness over their own impotent intelligence.

I mean sure, trying your best to uphold logic and empiricism; trying your best to be non ideological and objective. These are all great qualities, and they characterize an intellectual liberal, which is very tied into academics. But i am finding that being concerned with all these things seriously detracts from being able to form a coherent social movement, particularly when you are trying your best not to make mistakes, and when the forces that seemingly motivate people to engage in social and political movements aren't necessarily logical and objective at all.
