An array of white specs under my kindle fire

I bought one for classes, and kept it in its little plastic sleeve til i got my case/screen protector in.. i opened the sleeve to find that there's an array of little white dots under the screen. you can kinda see it with the screen on but when its under direct light in sleep/mirror mode, you can see like little etchings on the screen like this:

i called them and they are sending me a replacement, but any idea what that is?

edit: i'd take a picture of it but my iphone is only 5MP, cant see it.

Sounds like it's the film they use for the touch screen, or whatever they call that. I have a similar pattern of faint 'dots' on my DS Lite.

[EDIT] Granted if it looks anything like this, then I'd be annoyed too...

I can see those on mine. I have seen them plenty of times on all kinds of tablets. Take a look next time you are in a Best Buy if you have one near you. That said though, while I can see the 'etched dots' under the glass at very specific angles under a direct / harsh lamp, mine is not even close to as visible as that youtube video. Those almost look illuminated.

If yours are as bad as those then I would surely want a replacement. As it is now, mine are never visible or intrusive outside of the condition I mentioned above. So basically, if I am using the Fire I don't see them.

Scouring a few boards, I have seen differing levels of visibility and even colored lines being reported. The bottom line seems to be that it is a Pen Tile Matrix+CPT sensor and this is normal... as LONG as you are only seeing them when the power is off and as long as they are tiny tiny dots.
