Candle wax on the carpet

So I just ran into the spot about the size of both my palms side by side on the carpet where apparently candle wax was spilt. It smells like a candle so I'm assuming it's candle wax.

Anyone know of a solution I can soak on the area and make it dissolve enough to where I can pick it out/clean it up all together?

Any way to heat it up until it melts without setting your carpet ablaze would probably be preferrable. Might also need something to wik it out simultaneously. Perhaps using the iron through a couple sheets of paper towel would do the trick. Might not ever get it 100% out but it will probably make a big enough difference to be worth it.

Honestly did this 2 years ago when lights had gone out for the night and needed candles ( stupid CPS energy -_- ) and wax dripped. Used
wife's hair dryer, spent 10min and worked

Had this problem in my old apartment, iron + towel I found to be the best. Paper towels too flimsy to work with. Just use some junky rags that you don't care about.

A hair dryer would work to loosen the wax enough to allow you to pull it up with a paper towel. If you don't have that, you can try to loosen the wax up with hot water and a washcloth. You can also buy candle wax remover.

I had a bunch of those cheap tea light candles from Wal-mart, a friend of mine built a pyramid out of them on my table and had them all lite. Was cool until the heat at the top center candle lite the oil on fire, had about a 6-8" flame that we couldn't just blow out. Enter my genius self, I put water on it. If you don't know those cheap tea lights, the wax heats up and turns to an oil. It exploded. Mushroom cloud of fire, flames rolling and hit the ceiling which thankfully did not catch on fire. Wax, fucking, everywhere. Luckily the majority of it ended up on the table and chairs but there was a fair amount in the carpet.

I used the paper towel/hair dryer method to get it out and it worked fine.

I have done this before and yes it really works. Put a few paper towels on top of the wax. Use a hot iron on top of the paper towels so that the wax will melt and absorb into the paper towels. Change the towels as needed until the wax is gone.

this. General rule with wax stains is to use an iron (just don't turn it all the way up) with some sort of absorbent paper (a paper bag works well too actually) between the iron and whatever you're trying to clean.
