New Suikoden for PSP!

Konami announced today that it is developing a new entry in the Suikoden RPG series. The new game is titled Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki and is in development for the PSP.

The announcement came at a Tokyo Game Show stage event for tri-Ace's Frontier Gate. Konami quickly opened a teaser site for the game, containing a trailer, which you can see here.

Konami also opened a Twitter account specifically for the game. Suikoden fans should definitely follow the account for the latest updates.

Too bad it's not a numbered game, but I'll take anything.

Gah, yet another game we will probably never see a NA release of. It is apparently on the PSP and not the Vita... so I guess it will remain to be seen what kind of backward compatibility the PSV has.

Suikoden team was "disbanded" years ago. Has little relevance now of all times really... either way the guy who headed Tierkreis is also leading Frontier Gate where this was announced, wouldn't be surprised if he was heading this project too.

Looks like another shitty spin off, gonna be mad if it's another shit like tierkreis (which it kinda looks like). At least some attention is better than no attention? Although if they don't do a real game, there is no point to all of these shitty spin offs.

Tierkreis was quite the gaming abortion. Easily the worst Suikoden game since 3, and now they're making another game similar to Tierkreis?

Konami: Aiming for failure before the game's even developed.

Except it's a game in the same vein as the million-worlds story that Tierkreis set up.

Tierkreis turned an interesting franchise with a consistent world and a unique system into Just Another jRPG.

And like most jRPGs, it sucked something fierce. It's understandable fans are paranoid.

Looks like it is set 100 years in the future from X-point, but is an alternate timeline.

Makes me sad.. that we can't at least get new games from the main timeline. Doesn't anyone ever want to see Mazus's epic duel with Crowley? Yuber and Pesmerga's history and why Pesmerga is after Yuber? I know there is much more storylines to be witnessed.

It's funny because after Suikoden IV/Tactics, I didn't expect too much out of the series. I mean, main reason I was so hyped for V was almost solely for Georg Prime's involvement, his history, the queen, etc. Not only did V completely blow my expectations out of the water, with the awesome combat, great storyline, but some scenes even had me blubbering like a damn baby.

I will take a game based on some particular arc in the official Suikoden timeline over this new dimensional trash anyday.

A lot of people these days would probably think it looks silly, but I remember how much of an impact it had.
