EQ2 worked out okay in the f2p transition, but I'm not sure how EQ will.
I'll be playing it.

I would love if they introduce another progression server. The pure nostalgia of playing an initially expansionless server would be nice, at least for a little while.
The restrictions are a little rough for free-silver accounts, but I guess they gotta do what they gotta do to make people pay. Still though, it's about time this happened. Should've went 'freemium' years ago.
I can see them taking their time into making it f2p, because they made their money back long ago and people were still willing to pay a monthly subscription.
Found a link on Reddit to help people starting fresh on EQ when it goes f2p Friday.

This is my beef with it currently, and the same issue I have with DCUO. Silver accounts are fine and all, but it's just such a jump in price to go from paying nothing, to $15 monthly just to have access to everything, except EQ1 is even more restrictive unless you want to shell out for the not-free class/races.
Not sure why they can't offer a middle-man subscription price. Half the fee monthly, but access to generally more stuff.
I can't see limiting classes being healthy for the actual game itself also. At any rate, stuck waiting on my password reset to go through so I can bump my account (played it for a month years ago, then tried it again via a free trial) down to silver since they automatically made it a gold, and I can't get info if it's set to auto-recurring or not.
F2P client is out and it's not a streaming client like EQ2. Enjoy that 8gb dl, sigh.
