    MOBO/Video Card question

    Currently have the AsRock N68-VS3 Mobo with integrated video. Bought a new video card...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121442. Have it installed...device manager isn't showing it as an option to switch to however...still only shows the integrated option...ideas?

    Disable the integrated video in your bios first?

    ...is the monitor still plugged into the onboard vga/dvi/hdmi slot?

    no i hooked the monitor into the dvi/vga adaptor and tried that, no dice as well since the card choice hasnt been switched. Shouldn't I have to disable the integrated video through device manager/enable new video card first? I wouldn't think I'd do it through the BIOS?

    I'm not familiar with that video card. Is it powered? ...as in do you have to plug it to a 6 or 8 pin power connector in order for it to run? Does the fan spin when the machine turns on?

    Basic communication between the video card and the motherboard should exist even without drivers. Something's definitely wrong if it's not even showing up in device manager.

    Yea I can hear the fan cutting on when the power is booted up, no apparent direct plug in for power.

    Hmm...I scanned for hardware changes...it detected me download an update (showed the card under display adaptors at this point)...I installed drivers for the card...disabled integrated video...rebooted...now I get an error saying cannot find Asus graphics card and device manager doesn't show it anymore. *confused facepalm*
