Can you use Adobe CS6 just with the application folders?

Hey BG,

Was curious if you can use or install the CS6 programs just through having the application folders? I am using a mac but assume the principle is the same for PC?

At Uni CS6 has recently been installed and one of our tutors told us it was unprotected so we could take it and put it on our own computers. I took the files and assumed i could simply double click the icon and it would loads up but it didn't. I wasn't sure if i was missing something.

Could i possibly run a trial and then hope the installation was taken over by the application files?

Any insight would be great, hope i have explained the situation well enough.

CS6 also (usually) wants to be linked to an Adobe account, so without a unique serial/etc you'd probably run into problems. I know CS has had product activation since CS2 at least, if not before that.
Additionally, not everything that the installer does is part of the application folder - the registration settings are elsewhere, as are fonts and the like.

I would double check with your instructors and see what their license agreement actually covers. Usually it's just student pricing, which tends to be a fairly substantial discount. Design and Web Premium on Amazon is $423 Student and Teacher versus $1585 normal license.

Ah i thought it seemed to good to be true and way to simplistic for Adobe to allow. It just feels so close having the actually application files and no program. Thanks though!
