I really don't understand why when you could have had this on every VC you've ever owned through running a SNES emulator which are readily available.

I mean, its nice and all, but its been available. Now if it were a new Mother, that's something entirely different.

Meh personally I never got big on emulators outside of the occasional arcade game. Having an actual official version of a game is pretty big for me.

Nahhhh. Virtual Console is nice if you want that "console" experience,though, I guess. I just play emulated games I don't have on my PC with a controller.

Also the older I get, the less time I give a shit about a console experience. If I wanna play an emulator on the tv, I'll just hook up the HDMI cables.

Yeah I agree, I don't understand how having this game on VC matters at all...I played it on a SNES emulator when I was like 13.

I enjoy this news since I sold my copy for $200 last month.

I get why a lot of people might be apathetic to the news, but I think Nintendo acknowledging the earthbound/mother fans in North America makes this announcement a little more noteworthy than "we're letting you buy an old game you can already pirate."

Good thing this doesn't include me, because I didn't want it, since I've had it for eons, on any handheld or console I've ever owned, or had the ability to do so.

I see nothing wrong with amazing classics being ported to newer systems. It makes is so newer generations get to experience classics. I mean sure they could emulate, but some kids are clueless about that stuff until they're older. As for adults with nostalgia, I don't care how they waste their money.

I see it only as a good thing. However I am worried about some of the copyright stuff. Anyone know if they have to change anything in the game for this port?

I only wish they had it available as a download on 3DS. Also, in the Japanese port, there was extremely few things that were changed, enough to the point where it's almost unnoticeable except for a few lines.

Because after MML3 I'm not buying shit until the game I want it out and confirmed not fucked up all to hell and back with copyright "changes".

I just hope they put out a Mother Trilogy pack in the future would have to have a physical copy of 1-3 on the 3DS or something.

Man, if Nintendo knew that all it would take for people to plunk out 300 bucks for a new, underperforming system, was to release an old game that's been ported before, many times, and is available on most any system through emulators, I'd imagine they'd have done this sooner.

You should include in your mail that you'll buy any new console they throw out, so long as it has Earthbound 1 contained within. You just might get what you wish for!

Personally, I'll wait till there's something actually worth playing; something new. I'll be damned if I'd buy a PS4 strictly because of a port of FFIV J-type or something, but to each their own.

+1 for Mother 3. Assuming it's a straight port, I don't understand why people were so gung-ho about getting this released over here. Other than a few pocket cases like Spoony Bob's, the people who love this game have already played it and/or own it. The fact that the fan community had to bend over backwards for so long to get Nintendo to actually acknowledge that this game exists is pretty insulting as well.

I was wondering this myself since the rumor was that it was copyright issues on some of the music that was holding Earthbound back for a re-release to begin with.
