Windows 7 refuses to install

My uncle got one of these

and an SSD to go with it.

Took the HDD out and put the SSD in and windows 7 absolutely refuses to install to this thing. Have tried installing to unallocated space; have tried partitioning it and putting it on a partition. Have tried formatting it. Nothing works.

Tried plopping the HDD back in and can't get it to install on that, either.

Is this the error you're seeing? "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

I noticed the machine is preinstalled with windows 8 and all the newer ones are set to UEFI bios automatically. There's a setting in the bios you'll want to change from UEFI to CSM or some type of legacy support.

That was the issue w/ the HDD, but not the error I was getting with the SSD, which is clean out of the box with nothing installed on it

If it came with Windows 8 it's likely there's a UEFI BIOS setting preventing you from installing. I can be changed but I don't know the options off the top of my head.

If you have the ability to format the drive from another machine using an enclosure or something like that, that could fix it.
