That's actually pretty creative. It ties in with their JP commercial.
Meanwhile in North America...............
*tumbleweeds*
Maybe its because I don't watch TV, but I have not seen a single advertisement in my area. My friend that works at Gamestop says they got some of those cardboard advertisement things, can't remember what they are called.
Kinda pisses me off to know they are spending so much money to advertise in Japan and cater to them with early early access registration while we get tablescraps. I wonder how much that shit cost? Gotta be between 500k-$1.5mil.
I guess Japan will hold the majority of their player base, but still.
This made me butthurt. I'm so jelly.
The only thing I have seen on TV is that crappy live action trailer with absolutely no gameplay footage.
That's pretty cool. Too bad we don't get shit like that here.
Everyone at work knew about the new Everquest games that were announced, yet none of them have heard of FFXIV.
Makes sense.
The funny thing is I'm stuck on a JP server and I logged in and out throughout the weekend and never had a wait or que. Meanwhile on the NA/EU servers... I think FF is bigger in JP than NA for sure. A lot of people in NA will try the game out and toss it away after a few weeks/months but I know the JP player base plays for a much longer period of time. One guy (the only guy left) in my ls has a JP shell and he said everyone he's known since day one is still in the shell playing. Not every single day for 8 hours a day but they still log in very frequently throughout all of 1.0. I guess SE is just investing in long term subs.
I'm with you there. I mean I don't watch live TV for the most part but FF over here seems like something that's talked about but never advertised. I think I did see an add for it on a wiki once. Pretty sure it was a FF wiki though lol.
Interactive part aside, wrap that shit up and ship it as a FF14 screen saver. You know you'd all buy it (I would).
Fucking lol at Japan having a majority of their player base.
That is pretty legit. Why can't we have that in the states?
Can't really find a better place to post this. Seems like IGN is doing more advertising in NA than SE is.
One commenter said, "This is pretty sweet, never thought something like an mmo would come to final fantasy."
Also consider that Japan is more densely populated than the United States by an entire order of magnitude, while being something like 1/30th the size. Any single location advertising installation is going to reach a ton more people.
In the United States, they would have to install one of these in most major cities to reach the same number of potential customers.
I imagine there would have been another massive piece up on the Figueroa Hotel, but Rockstar squeezed in there first. Perhaps the PS4 release will have better timing.
