    Changing drive letters

Basically, I am switching from using my old laptop HDD with an enclosure to using a 3tb external HDD that I just got for black Friday.

I'm moving all the data over now. To save confusion with shortcut locations and what not, after I move all the data over, can I simply change the letter of the drive after I'll no longer be using the enclosure as my secondary drive? or should I swap the letters first? etc.

Just want to make a smooth transition into my new drive. Thanks

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Yes, you can reassign your drives to different letters.

Open up Computer Management in the start menu (assuming win7 of course) or Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
    Select Storage > Disk management
Right click the drive. Select Change Letter and Paths. Select Change. Then assign the drive letter.

You can also add in names to your drive partitions by going to Computer and right clicking the drives and naming them so you don't confuse yourself.

Alright, thanks. Would have sucked to have to redo my Foobar playlists by and other shortcuts by changing the drive letters on all of them.

you can also just hit the windows key and start typing "disk management"(vista/7/8) and it will say something like manage disk partitions, click that and you get the same screen as the control panel gives you

Transition went very smoothly; didn't even have to reinstall anything. All went over from copy/paste and changing drive letter. Thanks all
