So skype forced me to upgrade and now has huge ads in the chat windows themselves. There has to be a way to get rid of them. Methods I've found only really worked for older versions.

Route the ad sites to 127.0.0.1 in your hosts file?
If you're on Windows 7, Trillian still works for Skype, but they are using a depreciated method to get on Skype. That's why it will not work on Windows 8+. (I keep hoping they'll fix that...) It's also why I keep the original around, but I don't think I'll LIKE using the original if they're going overboard with ads...
I use Trillian myself to use Skype, sure I can't screen share or to my knowledge webcam but those are features not everyone is going to use anyway. I don't really see many ads when I use Skype's actual software, I think I've only seen 1 ad and that was when I was on my laptop using webcam one pop'd up on the side and then it was gone never to reappear after about 10-15s of seeing it.
Trillian not an option since I use voice/video. I dont know if rerouting the ad sites will work. Also not sure how to do that. >_>;
Hey their ads aren't that bad. Every day they suggest me bacon or other random food right before lunch and liquor after 4pm.
The issue I have is the add appears in the conversation box with annoys the shit out of me. I absolutely cannot stand things moving when talking/working etc. It also pushes down the name of the person I am talking to and their icon. Also earlier I had skype freeze when I opened up a conversation as skype tried to load.
All in all its complete bullshit that they forced me to upgrade and I want it gone.
Not_Kuno; Voice works on Trill, just not video, so it still proly wouldn't work for you. I've successfully used it while playing FFXI, I just keep the official around for a backup.

Worked for a friend and I. Give that a try.
