    Capacity Points farming

My main job is MNK and I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for decent CP farming. I have Glanzfaust and a RME pocket brd but despite killing single mobs quickly, the CP/her seems slow compared to massive aoe pulls of BST or BLU in Zitah, or mage jobs vs Acuex

Apex mobs in a party seem okay but that requires a party and the last one I was in took 20 min per bat (a yag whm woulda been nice for the aoe attack down)

Mostly I just use my trizek before logging out and log in with it ready to use and timer up, then go farm warder pops in Ruaun. My CP bonuses are capped aside from a better CP cape.

As it was a decade ago, autotarget is the key.

Hunt VT-ish mobs. Have your brd pull a mob with elegy and sleep it right in front of you. If you have full magic haste, as you should, each mob will die in about 10 +/- 3 seconds with almost no transition time. Find a camp where you can do this endlessly without running out of mobs.

And have a movie playing in the background, this will get boring fast.

Holy crap 20 minute kills for a whole pt.... you'd be better off dualboxing those mobs.

I've only fought them the one time with that party, how fast would you say is reasonable, and with what setup?

I don't know about an actual setup, but I 3boxed one, thf whm rdm, near floored accuracy, in under 10 minutes.

I was in a Woh Gates Apex PT the other day. Me (THF/DNC) and a DRK just bounced Darkness SCs between us and were knocking them down fast enough to chain VTs unless the WHM slipped up and one of us got pasted multiple times in a row. About 12K per kill, but we had BRD GEO WHM SMN for a backline so the buffage was massive. Even if one of us went down, the other one was tough enough to whittle down a VT, but generally too slowly to properly chain them. No tanks, just lots and lots of damage-crunching on the raptors and matamata (preferring raptors as they were less able to break a SC.)

Unrelated to melee jobs but BLM+PLD +4 trusts is the best combo I've done in Doh Gates killing Crabs, Occult accumen set for BLM, good ACC WS set on PLD, Vidohunir to Swift for Darkness, Vidohunir to Atonement for Light and MB x2 usually takes 70-80% of their HP, takes about 3 minutes to kill a single Apex Crab. When we added a GEO for malaise and a COR mules, we were killing a crab in under a minute.

On Melee jobs I just suck it up and kill eschan mobs, I feel like they need too much support vs Apex mobs, considering the state of the game, if you don't make your own pt, have friends or a support job mule, chances are no one is gonna invite you as melee to do those

If you can't get a good apex party, you are much better off soloing in escha. I haven't tried using melee for apex, mostly SCH and BLM, and sometimes a GEO. You can kill them in one magic burst with a SCH making a skillchain (although generally you want 2 so you can keep chaining.) Even with that set up, we were getting like 30~40 JP/hour (although I am at 400/1200 JP, haven't done bastok/sandoria, and have a shitty mantle. would be much better for someone at 1195 JP). I can solo 15 JP/hour in escha as BLM/RDM blowing up the gargoilles with ja spells. As MNK I could probably go for the aerns. They give much higher JP per kill. Or you can go behind the gates camps and go for mobs there, but you won't get silt or anything nice like that.

Escha is pretty bad for soling jp compared to killing whatever in SoA gates zones, the advantage is you're farming slit/warders/whatever at the same time.

In my experience the gates are only about 25~30% faster. That's significant, but I wouldn't say escha is pretty bad in comparison (even just JP wise.)

Gates can be incredibly faster but it kinda depends on your setup.
Also I would avoid tri-bats, those -att debuffs are very annoying.
    I suggest Crabs and Pugils.

I was getting over 170jp/hr on a very good Apex Crabs pt. Tbf it probably even higher. Every kill was like... >2JPs? Tank pulled mob > SC from SCH > MB from mages > mob was dead before mages even had a chance to MB a second time on the same SC.
I don't remember exactely the setup but we had a Tank, a GEO, 2 SCHs (taking turns creating SCs with Immanence), a BLM and a COR? With very good geared people you could probably keep the BLM out and use Kupofried in a party of 5.

    Edit:
Of course this was during the double CP campaign...

Have you actually tried the phaubo/aern camp with a decent group? Duoing, I was able to get 700k CP/hour (again with my sub optimal bonuses). A mana burn party in Woh Gates (non apex) was very close to this with the same bonuses, and I have a hard time imagining it getting much better as we were waiting on mobs to repop. Also, the party you described (killing before second spell on MB) was essentially the party I had yesterday. We had SCH SCH BLM BLM GEO Kupofried. 1200k CP/hour with my bonuses.

Absolutely. Before they add the Warders NMs.
    Even the Aern+Hpmede camp.
With people staying within 100 yalms range and everybody killing their own target, it was pretty nice stuff and I capped my silt repeatedly on those camps.
But CP-wise, while good, it can't compare to Apex camps or the other good AoE CP camps that were available before Apex.
During that time I kinda favored Ru'aun and Zi'tah simply because I wanted Silt and CP was the icing on the cake, but if you want just CP the current Apex camps with the right setups (such as the one I described) can't really compare to Ru'aun and Zi'tah.

I don't know the exact CP/hr but I was close to 5000k CP/hr if I recall, so you can get an idea of how better than 700k/hr that is.

I was not comparing apex to escha, rather escha to gates. I don't think is gates are that far ahead of escha. Also, comparing what you get with a different set of cp bonuses isn't a valid comparison. The party I was in sounded on par with yours in regards to mobs and kill speed, I was only getting 8-12k cp/kill instead of 60k.

Escha can be rather crowded at times too so I often wont bother if I don't need warders/slit

There's probably a misunderstanding here, what do you mean for "gates"?
The Apex mobs I'm talking about are in gates zones.
Did you possibly mean "monsters in gates zones, but not apex ones"?
If that's what you mean it doesn't change much. While Apex mobs are obviously better, good camps in Woh Gates (worms, umbrils, rabbits, you name it) or the huge aoe camp in WoH Gates 2 were still better.
Went to the latter one only a couple of times but it was roughly ~3000k cp/hr, which is still way better than 700k cp/hr.
There's also Vagary slime CP pts.
Unless you're unlucky and get too many NMs too early, you can totally get way more than 700k cp/hr there. I think last time I went there I was at like uh... 1500 cp/hr? Probably a bit more.

My point is that getting CP in Escha is pretty nice if you're solo/lowman or if you simply are goin there for other purposes (farming warders, getting vorseals, farming silt etc) and consider CP a pretty nice and consistant icing on the cake.
If CP is the ONLY thing you're interested in and you can get a group, there are much better camps, and there were even before Apex mobs got introduced.

Not sure what you mean here either but the setup was pretty comparable.
Sure on the Apex mobs I had a COR, but in the Escha camps I had Kupofried (and sometimes a COR too, but not everytime)

He probably means the 121 mobs added to the gates, when they added those 5 NM's from the monolith entrances.

There are three camps I'm talking about. Apex (which are in gates), gates (also in gates, but non apex), and escha. That's what people I've heard people call them, I apologize if I have the terminology wrong.

Again, you are comparing your rate to my rate. The cp bonuses are different, it's a totally moot comparison. The apex party numbers we posted (12k per mob vs 60k+ per mob) shows how significant that factor can be. That 12k per apex mob kill was with rings too. I'm posting the numbers I'm getting at different camps to compare the camps to each other in somewhat consistent conditions. Posting what you got during double exp campaign at high JP with a COR isn't helpful in determining what camps are good unless you posted the results from other camps under those conditions too.

What I'm disputing is that there are much better non apex camps. I have yet to find one. I actually just went to Woh Gates to a spot I've been before (Dullahan/Umbril/Acuex camp) as I'm tired of escha and it's hard to find a good apex party. I ended up getting less there than what I get during the night in escha, and slightly more during the day. Overall it was better, but not by much and certainly not worth it given the other perks of escha.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to find better spots to EXP. It's just that when I go to these places other people suggest, they do not live up to the hype.

While I do suppose people do hype the gates a bit they are noticeably better though how much might depend on job/play style.

It's certainly not going to make or break you but you should notice a difference so it depends on how much you value the other stuff. Like I've been capped on slit for awhile so after I got the last easy warder drop I wanted I left. But if you still need slit or need some warder drops sure multitask unless you are one of those people that can only do .5%hp/min against the warders
