I've always wanted to go to one of these. I've been to PAX East but never E3.

I've been twice in 2000 and 2001. Not nearly as fun now as it was back then. Honestly, if you've been to a PAX and went to E3 now, you'd be disappointed with E3
Maybe not so relevant

At this point they may as well either cancel, become PAX 2.0 (indie focus), or re-invent their reason for existing (CES competitor?).
Geoff's Game Awards really takes the steam out of the announcement power E3 used to have as well.
What even is E3 this year at this point?
Officially canceled, per the site that shan't be named.
Aw man I wanted to try out that ball pit.
LA's City Tourism Commission released literature at their board meeting yesterday suggesting they're already aware that E3 2024 and 2025 are also cancelled. From page 21 of the PDF (likely converted from powerpoint):Spoiler: show
Though it's an informal slide, to me the data in that table doesn't suggest "We expect this will be the case," but more like, "ESA was contracted for the next 3 years and here are our reportable actuals given the known cancellation."
So E3 as a trade show is likely dead forever. Wonder if this means top publishers will drop their ESA memberships, if the ESA will bother attempting to launch some other sort of trade event, or if the ESA dissolves to be reorganized as or replaced by another non-profit industry governing collective. E3 was the biggest convention of its kind, and despite the prevalence of numerous other shows, the biggest publishers seem keen to continue their private showcases unphased.
There's nothing I wanted to do more as a kid in LA than get some kind of press youth/guest credential access and attend an E3. I know the last few pre-pandemic shows were nothing like those of the 90s and 00s, but still sad that it may never be possible to attend a huge gaming con in this city ever again :C
Sadly, E3 was a shell of itself. I got to go during 200 through 2003 and was a ton of fun. Gotten tons of free swag like FFXI and Halo 2 T-shirts, pics with professional cosplay models, etc.
Sadly with how the internet expanded, it became an overpriced relic, and covid basically expedited it's death.
It should have taken it's Paxlovid.
