Les Grossman movie (Cruise from Tropic Thunder)

    http://movies.ign.com/articles/109/1095980p1.html
Rumors have swirled recently that Tom Cruise would be taking his Tropic Thunder character out into his own film, and now that talk has been confirmed. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Les Grossman lives.

Paramount has confirmed that the character -- who also showed up recently on the MTV Movie Awards -- will return. Cruise, along with Tropic Thunder director Ben Stiller and his producing partner Stuart Cornfeld (the latter of whom, rumor has it, is in part the inspiration for the Grossman character), will produce.

"Grossman, best known as a mega producer, has most recently mentored talents such as Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner," reads a company press release, which has been written as if Les is real.

"Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds," adds Stiller. "He has assured me he plans to quote, 'F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.' I am honored to be working with him."

Potential to be epic but I dunno, depends on how they handled it. Lex in Tropic Thunder was hilarious because A) it's completely out of character for Tom Cruise and B) the movie would always randomly switch over to him and the scenes were always badass. The combination of the 2 were always hilarious but it'd be real easy for them to kill it if they don't write a good script.

    Les Grossman movie

    http://movies.yahoo.com/news/usmovie...nds-movie-deal

Foul-mouthed producer Les Grossman is going to be a star.

Tom Cruise 's hairy, hip-hop dancing mogul character, who first appeared in 2008's "Tropic Thunder" and made a return by "producing" Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, will be the focus of a new Paramount film, the studio announced to Access Hollywood.

"Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds," Ben Stiller , who starred in, co-wrote and directed "Tropic Thunder," said in a statement. "I am honored to be working with him."

Tom will produce the film along with Ben and his Red Hour Films cohort Stuart Cornfeld after having "secured the life rights to Grossman," Paramount's announcement joked.

Writer Michael Bacall, who most recently penned the August-due "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," will handle the script.

No word yet if the " Tropic Thunder " crew -- which included Ben, Robert Downey Jr. , Jack Black , Jay Baruchel and Matthew McConaughey -- will reprise their roles in the spin-off.

Well I mean I doubt Stiller was writing/directing his schtick at the MTV Movie Awards. As with any outlandish character they will have a straight man a la Get Him to the Greek. I look forward to being mindfucked by this.

I'd watch it, but as stated, I don't know how they'd pull off an entire feature film.

Tom Cruise trying to stay relevant: check.

    Bad writing: check.

Yep. All the makings of another cult classic.
