Posting for a friend, but has anyone able to get hold of steam support if their account is stolen?
My friend asked me help me look with him and after spending about 30 mins circling around Steam support pages, I currently am not able to find any method to contact steam directly for assistance!
Has anyone tried to Steam before without the ability to sign in? Or does anyone want a go?
(I half wondered if perhaps they've temporarily taken it offline due to Helldivers 2 drama)
My friend's account has their e-mail and phone number changed so there's no way to even initiate the recovery process suggested. All other clicks around the Steam Support site just takes me in loops/circles with no way to actually raise a direct request/ticket for help...!
Someone suggested to e-mail [email protected] somewhere on Reddit but someone else said that the e-mail isn't used. We haven't tried this immediately yet but I thought I'd see if anyone has any experiences here.

Have to go through all the steps - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=1653986124
It will take time for valve to contact you about the ticket (2 to 24 hours) - https://store.steampowered.com/stats/support

Oh hey thank you! That is very nicely detailed. He's gone to sleep right now but I'll try to run him through it.

Quick update but though I couldn't replicate the instructions exactly on my own device, I was somehow able to help manage our way on his device to raise a ticket.
About 2 hours later Steam resolved the issue and restored his account. So that 2 hour thing is on point!
I'm getting my friend to do steam guard and SMS authentication now.

Stig; I tried to tell you on discord but guess you're asleep. Tell your friend, two factored or not, to watch out for people DM'ing you on Discord about "ARGH! I reported your steam account by accident!"
..I had mine two factored with the Steam app thing and they still managed to fool me well enough so they could steal my Steam..for a few hours. I don't recall exactly how I got ahold of Steam/Valve, but I block any donk that does that now (along with people that offer a "free" game or are trying to get you to pay for some "art")..Once bit twice shy. And yes, they are FAST. Unfortunately he spammed some of my friends, and they knew me well enough not to bite, and I warned who I could while I was waiting. (Which is why the scammer did that. I don't have anything worth stealing.)
If your friend has Steam, tell him to do the same. 'Neko still teases me half to death to this day when scams come up about the incident. But, I think I kinda deserve that
