Tempered excitement, Konami hasn't gotten anything right in a long time. We'll have to see how they're defining a remake, new characters/scenes/voices? Or they going to just remake the graphical side and keep everything else the same? Hopefully Hayter comes back.

I want to know who is developing it. Konami hasn't had any in-house development for awhile now.

I remember the early rumor was Bluepoint but I feel like if that were the case, that woulda been shown in the teaser with their track record, instead we just get the Konami logo starring us down.

Would be swell if MGS4 gets out of PS3 purgatory at some point.

Rumored to be developed by Virtuous. They're known primarily for ports, but recently remastered The Outer Worlds (suffered from performance issues at launch). Their last port was the Switch version of NieR: Automata.

The game is out for 2 weeks now, surprised there isn’t much reaction here

Anywars, I am about 70% into it and this is probably the most loyal-to-the-original remake I’ve ever played. As if Konami said to the developers “just rebult it on Unreal Engine AND DON;T FUCKING TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE”

I didn’t remember the story as well so it felt very fresh. So far, 9/10. Konami appears to have discovered the goldmine of remakes, we will definitely be seeing more MGS and SH remakes probably sooner rather than later.

Oh, and Eva in Unreal Engine…aaaahhh, Eva…

And for those who are considering to play, remember that this game is from the "Japanese like easy games and play for story" era, after all the punishing souls years Normal mode will be extremely easy for most.

In normal you'll likely finish the game in a day, and after initial orientation hour except for a couple of gimmicky bosses you'll never see game over screen. You'll never run out of ammo, only space to store them. By 3rd hour I was a one man walking army, passing all ammo on the way because I was maxed. Without checking I was holding onto my RPG in an expectation that I may need it in a tight situation, only to check later on and see it's got 20/20 rockets. Never ended up needing it.

Getting spotted has no major penalty other than a bunch of back up units where you can simply blast with your arsenal.

And afaik there is no way to change difficulty mid game.

So keep these in mind when choosing difficulty at start. Normal is really a story mode in today's standards.

Just finished this. Haven't played a metal gear since MGS on the PS1.

I could never figure out how to hold someone up. Did it once in the end but fucked up the fight and had to restart, so while I got the achievement, didn't get his camo.

Philosophy basically became "the dead can't sound an alarm" and amassed a huge pile of bodies in my wake.
