Closed Alpha runs through December 5th. Plenty of time to play the content available. Seems to be pretty unanimous that the mobile UI sucks for controls. I did learn through the first survey that there is a secondary layout, but instead of firing off powers while looking around, I'm frequently stuck in auto-run and emptying entire clips into the air. I still haven't figured out how to reload with the mobile UI.
I've been watching Cross play the game, he is using a PC emulator and a controller. The lag is all the same and it doesn't control much better, but it is easier to move around a map, unless you use a sparrow. You'll actually want to avoid using a sparrow as much as possible. The npcs that use them are on rails, but you should expect to spend most of your runs stuck in a wall.

Got my first 5* and it is pretty much a game changer. Has a solar sub machine gun and a void crossbow (this is great for challenges that require precision hits). His element is arc and uses the Arcstrider super. The sub abilities are a staff slam and a decoy that heals you (also attracts all hate).

It appears Alpha players do get to play the closed beta. I just learned about it because servers went up today and there had been no previous confirmation. Also, someone leaked the download and a bunch of people who didn't get invites were able to play without confirmation codes. Those players won't be banned, but NetEase has fixed the exploit.

Been playing for a couple days and it's been fun, a lot more fun with a controller, but today the lag has been insane. Just had a hard crash that knocked out cell phone service.

Downloaded an emulator, MuMu, to play the game on PC and this is the way. This version of Destiny is honestly a lot more fun to play than the current sandbox of D2. D2 is a smoother process, but Rising hits just right.
