Bahamut #2 Glitch?

I was curious if anyone else had experienced the issue below in the 2nd Bahamut fight.

Tanking him as Pld/Nin I have 1800-1900'ish HP or so in an enmity build, roughly 1700 when in my fire resist build.

I switch to the fire resist build right before each flare.

During one of the gigaflares I go to switch my gear. I see my HP bar at completely full HP. My shadows absorb some attacks before he actually uses flare. Still full HP.

Gigaflare goes off, I take roughly 1500 damage (fire resist fails) and I am defeated by gigalfare. My first reaction, since my connection has been a bit laggy lately, is I took some damage before or after flare & just didn't see it.

I scroll up to check my logs, nothing before gigalfare except shadows being absorbed. I check after them, nothing but the damage flare did (which was at least 200hp below what was displayed on my bar) Even accounting for the gear swap there's no way I was down that low in HP. I asked other people in the fight what my HP was displayed as and everyone who could recall it said they saw it at at least 1700+ before I died.

Did SE just fuck me over or am I missing something?

Granted we recovered & won, so I can't be too upset, but at the time it just about cost us the fight.

Somtimes when you change gears in PT it won't display certain things, I had this happen a few times w/ magic bursts.

I can confirm this. If you take damage while you're blinked out from switching gear, I'm pretty sure that it won't show up in the log.

That's a possibility then. I should probably macro the resist gear in a bit before we push it to each 10% mark so I can confirm my actual HP more easily for getting cures.

Possibly could be like when you do a gear switch before and after a WS, that sometimes the skillchain, even WS animation doesn't show up, and sometimes the damage doesnt either. That would be my guess, but at least you won :wink:

Gear swap log bug only happens with SC and MBs I think. I've never had a problem seeing my evades or damage taken while swapping gear myself, and I do it all the time.

There's a few things that I've seen that don't show up as you're switching gears. As soloing RDM I know when I switch gears I never see en-spell damage, and I don't see either the animation or the damage from SC, but I know that they do go off due to the mob's HP bar. I dunno what all Bahamut is capable of in the 2nd fight but it may be related.

Are you using fire resist+ gear and your jelly ring? With no magic -% or +% gear on a basic Gigaflare as Mithra NIN does 1250~1300 damage at most..or did I misunderstand and you meant Teraflare? I wear -13% magic damage during flares and take just below 1000 from Giga and under 700 during Mega. I find using magic damage -% more beneficial since its a static amount of damage reduced instead of a chance at resisting, that and with five jobs I don't have space to carry fire resist+ shit.

And on topic, its likely that it didn't log the damage from a normal hit while you were blinked out changing equipment, followed by a Gigaflare which finished you, but it shouldn't be doing that much unless you're leaving your jelly ring on..?
