Yeah, you gotta change your overlay to match up with your screen resolution or if in Windower, set it to 800x600. Also set the background to 1024x1024 and you can see way better than before.

I played my FFXI with default settings until I was almost lv.40 on my Ninja (roughly 6 months in, I was slow) Then I decided to play with my settings and I couldn't believe how much more beautiful it was.
