    Dynamis - Xarcabard ying-yang problem

Yesterday my ls did a Dynamis-Xarc run. Last run we did we got him down to 10%, this time 24% with a lot less people, but the bane of our existense continues to be the damn dragons.

The first time we tried having our nins straight tank them when they popped, needless to say things didnt go so well, and the dragons ended up on top of us at like 15% and we all wiped at 10%.

This time we tried a different approach, We only had 2 nins (enough for the dragons I know) but we had plenty of plds with speedy pants, so we decided to have 2 of our plds kite the dragons as far as possible. We decided to have the plds Provoke-> Invincible to get hate on the dragons when they pop. In order not to pull hate on DL when they invincible we decided to not have the Plds touch DL at all. Here is where things got screwy. DL was going down fast and popped ying-yang at 30%. Plds voke invincible defender berserk warcry rampart (our plds went through every hate tool on their list... even some of the merited abilities) the dragons didnt even look at them. In fact when the alliance wiped they were the only 2 standing. When the dragons came in and destroyed us, One of the plds got hit once, they turned around and walked away back to the spawn point with DL.

Anyone had a similar experience or have any ideas what went wrong? Its driving me nuts to get so damn close and wiping for stupid crap like that.

Sounds like they share hate with DL.

Yep, they do, once Ying & Yang are out, pray that DL is low enough to kill him, if not is game over basically for your ls, is annoying as hell, but its part of the fight.

They do. Your mistake is actually giving in to DL and putting attention on the dragons. If everything's going well they should be on your blinkers, so just keep fighting DL untill DL dies.

When we do Dynamis Lord he always recalls the dragons about 50%. When we fight DL all the BLMs timenuke ES Thundaga III to open the fight then immediately rundown to the tier below with DL following them. Our PLDs will then voke Invincible and spam every single JA they can to get hate on DL. Yin and Yang spawn back up at the top so it takes a few seconds to get to the alliance. Basically though it's just a ZERGfest, have your BLMs stop casting ga spells when Yin and Yang pop so that your only dmging DL, and apply as much dmg as quickly as you can to take DL down. If your getting him to 10-24% you have enough ppl to take him down, the fight is really all about luck. If your RDM/DRKs stun spam gets resisted at the wrong time then its game over!

    I've gotta agree

A voke or another JA will only distract them for a mere few seconds.

So.. your best bet is to completely ignore them and keep pouring the love onto the DL.

That being said.. good luck, sadly with the DL you need it ^^

If you're an LS that has never killed DL before, usually trying to kill him for the first time involved a lot of luck.

Trying to hold the dragons or keep them at bay is a waste of time. Concentrate all power on DL and hope that it's enough to kill him.

Umm here's the tip. You shouldn't even see ying yang pop from DL.

if you plan to kill DL you dont pay attention to the dragons whatsoever, their hate is almost solid on whoever is #1 on DL's hate list but im pretty sure i've been able to voke one of the dragons into attacking me at one point, but it was only for 1-2 hits.

i've killed DL 3 times without him even summoning the dragons with around 38-44 people, they also seemed to be quicker fights than every other time so im pretty sure when he summons them is time-based, if you manage to get DL past 30% before he summons them with steady damage still going, you can probably win.

last time i fought him he managed to warp up on the top where all the mages were at around 34% and kill everyone, i voked a dragon after he did that but DL seems to clear his hate cache after he warps because me and 3-4 other people managed to stay alive after we wiped, dont worry about the 2 dragons hitting for 300, worry about the huge pissed off galka with the giant fucking battle axe instead.

My shell, when we were trying to figure out how to kill DL, did alot of odd things. In fact, we found that a 2 NIN 2 WHM party could hold Ying and Yang at the castle if you pulled DL far enough away (like down to the ledge at the bottom). Problem was, at the end of the day, the more effort, time, and people you spend worrying about Y&Y, the more certain it is that DL will just straight up end your alliance.

Just like others have said, stop worrying about Ying and Yang, just straight up do all you can to kill DL as fast as possible. Once we started the standard zerg at the castle, we haven't had to worry about Ying and Yang since due to the fact they either dont pop or pop with him at around 5%.

In my opinion, Ying and Yang are just a diversion.

We've killed Dl twice with 30 people. We just ignore the dragons altogether and beat the hell out of DL...fight only lasts about 1 minute or a bit more, dragons only out for like 20 seconds, if that.

I've always wondered about pulling DL to the giant cliff just passed the wall of eyes, where all the melees stay down below but all the mages stay up top so that if DL does get off one of his killer AoE moves it wont hit any of the mages. Do linkshells ever pull him to that cliff? Our linkshell only Zergs his ass right where he spawns.

We actually pulled him down to that cliff a couple times when we first started.....and boy was that a bad idea.

My last shell only did it that way. At first i questioned it because i was so used to always doing it up near him in that zigzag part, i thought it seemed like a bad idea at the cliff. But it actually did work pretty well, i guess if you know what you're doing then anything can work for you. It's still the same basic principle.

If you are trying to use the cliffs to avoid Oblivion Smash or stuff, trust me, he can summon his images up on the cliff and all over the area.. it doesn't help at all.

You just have to kill him before he kills you.

A thing commonly forgotten is that PLD and NIN don't tank DL the RDM/DRK actually do.

Way we found to be the best was to pull him down to the first cliff. RDM/DRK stun in pairs with one down by hte melees and one up top by the mages. This way if he does get a cheap shot off you still have an active stun going until the next RDM can realize and start. After the initial unload of TP we have 2 PLD run back up to the tower to wait for yin/yang. Voke/other JA's / Invincible can keep the PLD safe while distracting them for maybe 15-20 seconds. Not a lot of time but significant considering hte entire fight should only last 90 seconds tops.

Another common misunderstanding is that throwing more BLM at him makes him easier. For this kind of quick fight a melee zerg rush can be a bit more effective.

    Good luck

mages on top of very first cliff to the right of his spawn
melee under the very first cliff to the right of his spawn
4-5 rdm/drk stand at the point when the cliff starts to form

thf or pld(flee boots are nice) pull him to where the melee's are standing
seconds after melees engage 2x RDM start CS stun
blm army on top of cliff start with ES thunderga then tier down
when first CS stun is done last 2/3 RDM start CS stun

by the time your last CS stun set is done DL should be dead (or very low depending on how many ppl u have)

basically if ying/yang are summoned you are all but dead unless dlord is at 5% or less and you havent started wiping yet

we've killed dlord at least 20+ times. wiped 2 times got full drop 2/3 times got no drop 8+ times.

have killed with as little as 30 and as much as 60+ (first attempts were team ups)
